Moyvane Notes – 10th November, 2009

Village Festival:
Watch out for the last weekend in November. Moyvane Development Association has rescheduled it’s postponed Bank Holiday weekend events. On Friday, November 27th the Inter Pub Talent Competition takes place. Saturday night, November 28th the culinary event of the year, The Boro Buffet, will be held in the Marian Hall. Sunday, November 29th the Vintage goes ahead at the Community Centre with lots of activities for the kids. The date for the Boro Queen event has not been decided yet. The committee are still talking about it and will decide at their next meeting which will held on Tuesday, November 16th at 9pm in the Marian Hall.

Blotto:

Moyvane GAA:
Seniors – Results: Moyvane seniors passed their first test in their North Kerry Championship campaign with a 2-point victory over Ballydonoghue played in Listowel on Sunday last. Although Ballydonoghue took the first point of the game, Moyvane, playing with the wind, had the better first half scoring 6 unanswered points in the opening 20 minutes and went in at half time 4 points ahead on a score of 0-7 to 0-3. Ballydonoghue burst out at the start of the second half and had Moyvane’s lead reduced to 1 point after 15 minutes. Moyvane rallied and the team swapped points before Moyvane again took a 4 point lead 0-11 to 0-7 with 10 minutes to go. Seniors – Fixtures: Moyvane will play Tarbert in the Quarter Final of the Senior North Kerry Championship on Sunday November 15th at 3pm in Ballybunion.  Please check Fixture Posters for any change to this game.

Club Lotto: There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €4,600. Numbers drawn were 8, 14, 17 and 23.  Lucky Dips €40.00 each, J Scannell, Kerry & Fiona c/o G Mullin, Flor Mullin c/o Mairead’s, Eileen Cronin, Mail Road Cross and John Fennell, Ballylongford. Coiste na nOg: The North Kerry U11 Football Blitz was held in Moyvane on Monday, October 26th.  Big congratulations to our own U11 team on reaching the semi final where the eventual competition winners Listowel Emmets narrowly beat them.  After the blitz, the Sam Maguire Cup made a special appearance in the Community Centre accompanied by Kerry Senior Team members Tom O’ Sullivan and Seamus Scanlon who presented the Moyvane ladies teams with medals they had won during the year.

Senior Badminton: Badminton Competitions for the season have got under way, starting with Div. 3 & 4 ladies and men’s leagues. Killarney proved too strong for both the div 3 & 4 men. The div 4 ladies however enjoyed a 6-0 win over Listowel, their team was Margaret O’Donnell, Eleanor Sheehan, Saorcha Fitzgerald and Elaine Hudson. On Sunday at the November Handicap in Tralee Paul Kennelly won Div. 5, Michelle Corridan was finalist. Elaine Hudson won Div. 4, and Carmel Hudson was finalist Div. 3.

Knockanure GAA Lotto: There was no winner of last week’s Jackpot. Numbers drawn were  3  10  24  29. Lucky Dips: €25 each: Con Lynch, Ria Grimes,  Noreen Barry, Mike Morgan, Pat Hickey, Angela Moroney. Bar Prize : John Joe Barry. Next Week’s Jackpot: €6,300.

Ballylongford Craft Fair:
A craft fair will be held in Ballylongford Community Centre (the Sportsfield Hall) this Sunday, November 15th from 12pm to 6pm. A huge selection of handmade products from all over Munster will be on sale on the day, pottery, slates, paintings, printed glass, jewellery, cards for all occasions, handbags, baking, jams, wood turning, knitting, mulled wine and much much more.

 

 

Full Gospel Convention:
Christians of all denominations will assemble at Killarney Heights Hotel, Killarney from tomorrow, Thursday, November 12th to Saturday night, November 14th, for the All-Ireland Convention of the Full Gospel Fellowship. The convention is open to everyone and those in attendance can relax and enjoy a period of praise accompanied by gospel music and singing as well as testimonies, sharing of Scripture and prayers for spiritual and physical healing. The Main Speaker at the convention is Stephen Monds who studied for the priesthood at Maynooth, and the Music Ministry will be provided by Alan Pimlott of Gospel music fame. The Full Gospel Fellowship International (FGBMFI) was founded in 1952 in Los by Demos Shakarian, a Californian dairy farmer of Armenian descent based on prophetic visions where he saw a vast number of lay people involved in spreading the Gospel. The Fellowship has chapters in 150 countries, is not a cult or sect and does not start churches and welcomes members from all Christian denominations.If you would like to know more about the fellowship contact a member of the local chapters at the Convention this weekend at Killarney Heights Hotel, 064 6631158.
