Moyvane Notes – 10th September, 2006

Moyvane GAA – Seniors:
Moyvane had a valuable and hard-earned win over Scartaglin in the County League last Saturday night. Great defence by our lads laid the foundations for this win and a vital goal by Pascal Sweeney, ten minutes from the end, secured the points. Final score, Moyvane 1-5 Scartaglin 0-7. Our next game will be against Ballyduff in Moyvane on Sat. 23rd September.

 

Kerry Minors:

The very best of luck to local player, Patrick Curtain, and his Kerry team-mates in the All-Ireland Minor Final on Sunday. Also, the best of luck to the Kerry seniors in the senior final as well.

 

Match Tickets:

Tickets for the All-Ireland final can be ordered and collected from Micheal Walsh, Tarbert Road. Phone 068 49277. Names already with the secretary will be passed on to Micheal.

 

u-12 North Kerry League:

Moyvane scored a great three point win (5-9 to 3-12) over local rivals Tarbert in the U-12 North Kerry League Div. 2 semi-final on Thurs. 7th Sept in Ballylongford. In a hugely exciting exciting contest, Moyvane narrowly overcame Tarbert thanks to a great team performance. Well done to the panel of 20 players.

 

They now face Ballyduff in the final on Friday 15th September at 6.30pm in Ballylongford.

Bórd na nOg:

A fundraiser will be held by parents to purchase team jerseys, etc. for the boys & girls football teams. Raffle tickets will be sold locally. 1st prize is a Kerry jersey signed by the Kerry team.  2nd prize is a TV/DVD combo. The draw will take place at Brosnan's Bar on Friday 15th September. The Samaritans:

An information evening will be held in the Samaritan Centre, 43/44 Moyderwell, Tralee on Wednesday 13th September at 8pm and a recruitment evening will be held in the Samaritan Centre on Wednesday 27th September at 7pm. 

 

Tidy Towns:

Well done to the local Tidy Towns Committee for achieving over 11% increase in points on last year and winning the SuperValu Endeavour Award. 

 

Marriages:

Congratulations to Yvonne Keane, Murhur, Moyvane and Shane Corcoran, Tipperary on their recent marriage in Moyvane Church. The reception was held in The Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee.

Congratulations to Brendan Moloney, Dromurhur, Moyvane and Noretha Barrett, Athea on their recent marriage in Athea Church. The reception was held in Ballyroe Hotel, Tralee. 

Congratulations to Pat Kearney, Main Street, Moyvane and Shirley Burns, Parteen, Co. Clare on their recent marriage in Parteen Church. The reception was held in The Clare Inn Hotel. 

 

Junior Cert Results Disco:

The Shannonside No Name Club will be holding an alcohol-free results disco in The Lanterns Hotel on Wed. 13th from 9-12pm. Live music with local rock band, StoneDeaf, followed by disco with DJ Excel. Admission €10. All are welcome.

 

Deaths:

The death took place of Tony O'Callaghan, Cahirdown, Listowel and late of Knockanure village. He is survived by his wife Nancy, sons Pat & Tony, daughters Marian, Ann & Stephanie. Tony was a copper craftsman and his work can be seen all over the world. A member of the Listowel Urban Council for 20years, he also taught for a time in Moyvane school. He was 67years of age. Sympathy is extended to his family.
