Village Festival:
Sunday night the Marian Hall was packed, people were almost hanging from the rafters for the local concert. There is nothing better than local talent to bring the crowd and there is nothing more enjoyable than watching and listening to local talent. Pity it doesn’t happen more often. There were singers, dancers, musicians, and story teller Daisy Kearney, followed by a play by the Boro Players. They brought the house down with their comedy “A Burglary Will Take Place”. This was last staged in 1958 by local Marca Na Feirme members and over twenty five years later, four of the original cast and four other greats once again gave an “Oscar” winning performance. The show produced by mother and daughter duo Eileen & Áine Cronin. Bank Holiday Monday saw the first hunt of the season for the North Kerry Harriers take off in a colourful parade through the village, followed by an even more colourful, if not scary parade, an under twelve Halloween Fancy Dress parade. “The Rambling House” at Mairead Kearney’s Bar brought a lively close to an action packed weekend. The weather was kind to all and the village looked lovely, thanks to the Fás & R.S.S members, the street lighting by Eddie Sheehy and music by Ger Keane. The committee members wish to thank sincerely all those involved, sponsors, the business community and all those who attended the many weekend events. Looking forward to 2012, the twentieth Festival!
