Once again I have to refer to disruption south of Moyvane Village. A meeting was held in the Marian Hall Tuesday night of last week, a fractious meeting with a lot of locals airing their dissatisfaction and no wonder. Representatives from An Bord Gais and Murphy GMC were represented at the meeting. Arising out of the meeting signage was improved and the road from Moyvane Village to Gale Bridge was reopened, with traffic lights, for the weekend. This made a huge difference to those who live on that side of the village. We will have to wait and see how the whole thing pans out but at least we have got the companies involved talking to the locals and members of Kerry County Council finally came on board. It’s not going to be easy and unfortunately it will take a long time.

It’s that time of year again, the beginning of another Badminton season. Moyvane Badminton has a glorious and successful history both at juvenile & senior level. Now is the time to start your young people. It is open to everybody from 2nd class up on Monday nights, starting 7pm. It’s a wonderful way to keep them fit over the Winter when the weather is too bad to go outside so why not come along and register next Monday night.

LOTTO: There was no winner of this week’s Lotto Jackpot of €3,200. Lucky Dip winners of €40 each were Charlene Mulvihill, Leitrim West, Moyvane. Nadine, Ned & Marguerite Stack, Moyvane South. John M. Holly , Ahanagran, Ballylongford. Gerard Fitzmaurice, Lower Aughrim, Moyvane & Joan and Kevin Kiely , Glin Road, Moyvane. Next week’s Jackpot is €3,400 and will take place in Speedy’s Bar on Sunday, September 17th.
NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP: Moyvane had a great win over Beale on Sunday last, despite challenging weather conditions in Ballybunion. They won with a tight score line of 2-5 to 0-10. Moyvane now progress to play Sneem/Derrynane. Time and date to be confirmed.
RACE NIGHT: Don’t forget Moyvane GAA are hosting their annual Video Race Night in Speedy’s Bar this Thursday night, September 14th starting at 9pm. A great night of racing is in store along with the chance to win some fabulous spot prizes! Your support would be greatly appreciated!
