Moyvane Notes – 12th August, 2000

MINORS had a good win over Ballydonoghue in the North Kerry league last week and are now in a position to qualify for the semi-finals. Final score was Moyvane 1-13 to Ballydonoghue 0-3. Next Thursday night they play St. Senan’s in Mountcoal at 7.30pm.

U/12s were defeated by Glenflesk in the final round of the County league in Moyvane on Thursday. They also played a draw with Ballylongford on Friday night in the North Kerry league with the final score being 4-11 each. On Sunday night they play Beale in Moyvane at 7pm sharp. All players are asked to be in the dressing room at 6.45pm.

Seniors had a win over Emmets in the semi-final of the North Kerry league on Saturday. Two goals in the first half by Paudie Fitzmaurice and Cathal O’Connor. Moyvane held on to win by 7-2 to 0-9.

Juniors start their Barrett Cup campaign on Friday night with a game against Austin Stacks in Connolly Park at 7.30pm.

Many people turned out for the annual graveyard Mass at Murhur last week despite the bad weather.

The graveyard Mass took place on Monday night last, a large crowd of people attended.

The Annual General Meeting of the Moyvane branch of the Kerry Parents and Friends of the Handicapped will be held on Monday night, August 14 at 8pm at the Marian Hall, Moyvane. All members are requested to attend. New members welcome.

The death took place of Liam Lynch, Aughrim. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Thursday. He was buried in Lislaughtin cemetery following Requiem Mass on Friday last. He is survived by his sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

The death took place of Denis Corned, Murhur. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Saturday, he was buried in Ahavoher cemetery, following Requiem Mass on Sunday last. He is survived by his wife, son, daughters, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister, nephew, nieces and relatives and friends.,

The death took place of Alice Connell (nee Mulvihill), Athea and late of Glenalappa.

The death took place recently, in London, of Michael (Mick) Buckley, Keylod, after a short illness. His remains were removed to Knockanure Church and buried in Ahavahar cemetery. He is survived by his wife, sons, daughter, relatives and friends.

A renunion of past pupils who attended the following secondary schools: St. Michael’s College, Listowel, Presentation Convent, Listowel, Listowel Community College (formerly known as Listowel Technical/Vocational school), will take place in Listowel Arms Hotel, Friday, August 11.

The Kerry branch of the National Council for the Blind wish to thank the recent church gate collection. The amount collected was £217.
