MINORS
Moyvane lost to Duagh in the 2004 final on Saturday in Ballyduff. This was a very exciting game which hung in the balance right to the very end. Moyvane lost their goalkeeper Diarmuid Fitzmaurice with an ankle injury very early in the match and with Mark Hanrahan Chris Foley and Tom Keane missing with illness and injury we were under pressure. However the lads gave a great account of themselves and in true Moyvane fashion contested to the very end. We started well and with ten minutes to half time we led 0 – 4 to 0 – 1. Then Duagh got the first of their goals and just on half time got through again for a second goal to leave the score at the break 2 – 2 to 0 – 5. Moyvane had a purple patch just after the break and added four points to go back into the lead again and it looked good for us then. Then with about five minutes left Duagh finished the game off with a third goal. Moyvane tried hard to get the goal that might swing it back our way but Duagh held on to win on a score of 3 – 3 to 0 – 9. Moyvane had outstanding players in Aiden Keane, Paddy Curtin, and Damien Flynn, DJKeane and Myles Kearney but in fairness they were all heroes. Well done to Kieran Stack for his excellent work with the team and their day cannot be too far away. It was their third final this year so it proves they are certainly on the right track.
