GAA seniors: Moyvane had a very successful weekend with victories over Kenmare in the County Intermediate championship and Glenbeigh/Glencar in the County League. In the Kenmare game on Friday night, we had a one point to spare in a very well contested affair. Conditions were good and the game could have gone any way in the final few minute but we just held on to win on a score of 0-10 to 0-9. We now meet Castlegregory in the second round.

On Sunday, we travelled to Glenbeigh and overcame the locals in a very good game on a score of Moyvane 3-5, Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-6. This win gets us back on track again in our aim to win promotion. Well done to all involved. Next Saturday night, Moyvane are playing Emmets in the North Kerry League in Moyvane at 7.30. This is a big game for Moyvane as the points are important and all games with Emmets are close encounters. Then on Tuesday, 15, its back to County League with a game against John Mitchels in Moyvane at 8pm.

Moyvane are playing Na Gaeil in the Urban League on Friday evening in Moyvane at 8.00. All players have been asked to be in the dressing rooms in good time. this competition runs on Friday evenings so our juniors are asked to keep an eye on the notes for their fixtures. On Thursday evening, 17, they are playing Ballyduff in Ballyduff in the North Kerry League at 8pm. A big effort is hoped for in both games.

U/14 – Moyvane have qualified for the final stages of the County league. If we qualify, the final of our group will be on Monday night.

U/12 – Moyvane will play Beale in the County League on Sunday in Ballybunion at 7pm. Players should check with Michael Walsh for definite fixture because of Kerry’s game in Tipperary. LADIES Football – Marguerite Lynch was selected as wing forward on the Kerry U/16 team that defeated Tipperary in the quarter finals of the Munster championship. Marguerite scored two goals and five points in the match.

Tidy Towns Committee – The next meeting of the Moyvane Tidy Towns committee will be held on Monday night next at 8.30pm in the Marian Hall. Any club who had not a representative at the previous meeting are asked to send one to this meeting. A development association meeting will follow immediately afterwards.

The Labour Party’s Church gate collection will be taken up this weekend.
