Moyvane Development Association:

Friday: Friday night opens with the popular inter-pub singing competition and it looks as if this year is going to be more competitive than ever. The prize is a Perpetual Trophy.
Saturday: Saturday night, in The Marian Hall, Boro Buffet number six will be held. This is the gourmet evening of the Festival. Darina Allen move over! Those of you who have been lucky enough to get tickets over the years can vouch for that. There is a rush on tickets already, and as usual they are limited, so contact any member of the Committee as soon as possible.
Sunday: Sunday afternoon, the popular Vintage Display takes place at the Community Centre. Over the past ten years this has brought participants from as far as Armagh, Wexford, Galway & Clare. There will also be Kiddies activities in the Centre. That night a local concert will be held in the Marian Hall with the highlight of the evening being the selection of the "Queen of the Boro". This always generates interest and excitement and gives everyone a chance to see some of our beautiful young ladies and indeed their handsome escorts.
Monday: Bank Holiday Monday, North Kerry Harriers kick off their hunt season. This is a real country event, colourful and exiting with horses and hounds. An Under 11 North Kerry football blitz will be held in the sportsfield and Sam will make his appearance with at least one member of the victorious Kerry team. Great to have Sam Maguire back in his rightful place so bring your children along and let us all show our appreciation for the team that brought All-Ireland number 36 to Kerry. The highly acclaimed film The Valley Of Knockanure will be screened in The Marian Hall on Monday night October 26th at 8pm. The film was written and directed by Ger Barrett, a native of Knockanure, and it makes us very proud to see one of our own hit the big screen and portray the history of our locality in this film which is strictly for an adult audience. The film has been nominated for several festivals and we wish him and the cast the very best of luck. The Festival closes with the Rambling House in Brosnan’s Bar with lots of local talent bringing to a close an action packed weekend.
