Moyvane Notes – 13th December, 2003

WORK will start on the erection of 42 new houses at Lower Main Street in Shine’s field in January. The village will be included in the village renewal scheme and the new houses are seen by many as a major boost to the locality.

The senior citizens Christmas dinner takes place in the Listowel Arms Hotel this Sunday at 1pm. Book immediately with Maureen Nolan 49365 or Eileen Quinn, 49472. Citizens Chiropodist will attend Marian Hall on next Monday from 1.30pm-5.30pm for appointments, call Eileen Quinn 49472.

There will be a Mass for Bridie Pace nee O’Connor and formerly of Moyvane South who died in U.S.A.

The marriage took place in the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane of Elaine Moloney, Lower Main Street, Moyvane and Fergal O’Connor, Tarmons. The reception was held after in Ballingarry House.

The death has taken place of Johnny Quinn, Leitrim Middle, Moyvane. He was in his mid 80’s. He was removed from his son Michael ‘s residence to the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane and buried in the family plot at Mumhur.

Moyvane seniors play Desmond’s in the final of the North Kerry championship this Sunday in Ballylongford at 2.30pm. This is without doubt the biggest game our lads will play have played this year and the most important.

They have proved themselves to be a very good side because it is never easy to reach a North Kerry final and now let us wish them the very best of luck in their effort to go all the way.

Moyvane minors had a great win over Brosna/Knocknagoshel in the semi final of the North Kerry championship. Under Kieran Stack they were very fit and sharp and had a bit to spare in the end. They now meet Ballydonoghue in the final on December 28.

Celina Mulvihill goes forward in solo singing along with the set dancers to the final of County Scor to be held in the Glen Eagle, Killarney this Sunday.

The West Limerick set dancing club will hold Set Ceili in Convent Hall, Abbeyfeale this Sunday at 4pm. Music by Johnny Reidy. All sets called.
