Knockanure Vintage Festival:
Knockanure Vintage Festival will be held on Sunday, August 19th. The Community Centre Committee is holding a cake sale on the day. Gifts of cakes, confectionery etc. would be very much appreciated. These may be handed in to any member of the committee.

Wedding:
The marriage took place of Elaine Foley, Ahalahanna, Moyvane and Enda Scarlett, Leixlip, Co. Kildare at the Church of the Assumption Moyvane on Saturday last. The reception was held in the Golf Hotel, Ballybunion. The couple will reside in Moher, Moyvane.

Old Saying:
To grasp the nettle.

GAA:
Anybody interested in going to the Kerry/Dublin game should order their tickets from Micheal Walsh on 087-9817883 before Saturday next.

Old Custom:
Custom in days gone by when the electricity was not there, the oil lamp would be lit in the house the 15 August until the late spring again. There used to be no light in the house during the summer months.

Rain:
24mm fell in the Moyvane area this week.

Deaths:
The death took place of John Collins, Murhur, Moyvane and London. His remains were removed to Moyvane church on Thursday evening last and buried in Murhur cemetery on Friday. He was in his early 80s.

The death took place of William Bill O Sullivan, Coilbee, Listowel. He was the father of Liz O Sullivan, Main Street, Moyvane.

The death took place of Connie Joe Sullivan, Ballybunion. He was the brother of Margaret Mulvihill, Woodgrove, Moyvane.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved families.
