Moyvane Notes – 14th June, 2003

THE Senior Citizens Committee thanks all those who contributed to the Parish Radio Link Project. The total cost of the project is €10,820, excluding handsets. The contributions came from Wren Boys €870, Book club €1,650, private donations €110, North Kerry together €600. The facility is being used and enjoyed in approximately 44 homes at the moment.

B-thar thanks the children of Moyvane National School for the gifts of two goats and a flock of chickens that were sent to poor African families from money collected by the children during lent.

Moyvane under 12’s start their County League Phase two next weekend. Check with trainers for definite fixture.

Moyvane U-14’s are playing St. Senan’s in Knockanure next Wednesday at 7.30 in the North Kerry league. A win would qualify them for the semi-final.

The under-16’s start their County League on Monday, June 23, against Desmonds in Clounmacon at 7.30 p.m. Then on Monday, June 30, they are away to Churchill.

The seniors qualified for the final of the North Kerry league after their great win over Emmets in the semi-final last week. This was one of their best performances to date and they hope now to build on it.

The juniors play Kerins O’Rahilly’s ‘C’ in the Urban league on Friday night in Clounmacon at 8 p.m., sharp.

At the ICA, AGM Mrs Olive Keane was elected President for the coming year. Outgoing President Mrs Kathleen Fitzmaurice will be Vice President.

The annual ICA outing will be to Killarney on July 30, and will include dinner and the Brendan Grace show. Contact Noreen Roche, Eileen Roche or Maria Walsh.

Bingo, this Thursday, will be held in aid of the upkeep of the graveyards. Your support would be appreciated and donations of spot prizes would be welcome.

Chiropodist will attend the Marian Hall this Saturday from 1.30 p.m., to 5 p.m., for appointment contact Eileen Quinn 49472.

The death has taken place of Johnny Lynch, Ballyguiltenane, Glin who was brother of Joe Lynch, Woodgrove, Moyvane.

The death took place of James O’Callaghan, Leicester, England who was brother of Dan O’Callaghan, Aughrim and Eileen Collins, Murhur.
