Village Festival:
Friday, October 25 to Monday, October 28 brings this years Village Festival. Can you believe it’s Festival number twenty one and what a weekend the committee have planned, catering for both young and old. Children will be taken care of with amusements in the church car park.
Friday night should be the biggest night the festival has seen with a marquee at the Community Centre with two bands playing. Starting at 7pm you get two for the price of one, High Country will be followed later that evening by the Kilkennys so get your tickets at local shops in the village.
Saturday sees both soccer and football tournaments followed that night by the Boro Buffet. This Boro Buffet is different and better so make sure you have your tickets.
The annual Vintage is on Sunday with Mini Craft Fair, Bonny Baby competition and of course the Glamorous Granny competition. Don’t forget to bring your dog for the dog show and there will be entertainment for the children. There will be a variety concert in the Marian Hall on Sunday night.
Monday is Hunt day, the first Hunt of the new season followed by a Kiddies Halloween party and the football final. There will be Pub entertainment all weekend.
Running/Walking:
A very successful meeting to help start a running/Walking club for the Moyvane community was held in the Marian hall on Friday last. With many fitness enthusiasts expressing huge interest in improved levels of fitness, the large attendance helped form the Boro Brigade Running/Walking club. All abilities and all ages are most welcome, workouts will be tailored to suit all parties, present fitness levels simply don’t matter!
Meeting Times/Locations:
- Wednesdays – 8pm at the sportsfield.
- Saturdays – 9.30am in the sportsfield parking lot.

Ladies Football:
The football season is coming to an end soon with just the u14 girls playing in the North Kerry League. They won in Ballymac last Sunday on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-1. Moyvane play Duagh at home this week, date and time to be confirmed. Well done to the four players, Marie Kennelly, Ciara Haugh, Siun Walsh and Ciara Hudson, who played in the District competition losing out to Tralee in the final, The u8s and u10s have also hung up their boots until next season, they are a great bunch of girls under the great guidance of Catherine Keane and Maggie Large and thanks to all for helping with their training and matches.
Creamery Social:
Don’t forget the Creamery Social. The venue is the Devon Inn and the date is Friday, November 15th. This is a special event this year to mark the retirement of Michael Liston who has retired as General Manager of the Co-op. To show the appreciation of the service he has given to the farming community a presentation will be made on the night. Tickets are on sale in the creamery office.
