Moyvane

Moyvane Notes – 15th December, 2008

School Concert:
The Moyvane School Concert takes place this Friday night in The Marian Hall at 8pm. This is your opportunity to take care of your own so show your support for our local school by attending in large numbers. You can relax before the stress of Christmas with an evening of music, song and dance with the local infants performing a Nativity scene and wait for it, the parents even get involved in entertaining you with a sketch. There will be some wonderful raffle prizes on the night. After the cutbacks in the budget your support was never so badly needed so come on, come out and enjoy yourselves.

Badminton:
Moyvane Senior Badminton Club hosted their Annual Invitation Tournament in the Community Centre on Sunday last. Over 100 players from clubs all over the county took part. Clubs from as far as Portmagee in the south to Ballyheigue in the north defied the weather conditions to travel to compete. Players from our own club who were successful were:
  • Div. 5 (Sean & Betty O’Connor Trophy) –  The winner was Edel Normoyle, Micheal Nolan was a finalist.
  • Div.4 (Eileen & Tom Roche Trophy)  – The winner was Donnacha Moloney, finalist Denise Collins.
  • Div 3 (Eileen Brosnan Memorial Shield) – The winner was Kevin Stack, finalist was Jeanelle Griffin.
  • Div. 2 (Mail Road Cross Garden Centre Trophy) – The winner was Ml.J. O’Connor  and finalist was Marguerite Lynch.
The success of the tournament was due in a huge way to the very generous sponsorship received from Newtownsandes Co-Op and McElligott Properties Tarbert enabling us to present Crystal Trophies to all winners and finalists. To you we offer our sincere thanks and also to all who sponsored Raffle Prizes: Holly’s Gala, Marie Nolan, Ml. Corridan, Mgt. O’Donnell, & Ml. Torley. Well done to all members and Juveniles who worked so hard to make the day an enjoyable one for all.
