GOOD BYE to Denny (Denis) Flaherty who recently left this world and went to a better place. Denny passed away on Monday, June 19 after a life filled with health issues that never defined him. At the age of 20 or thereabouts a perforated appendix almost ended his life but there was a positive outcome, because it was while he was being treated in the hospital that he met his future wife, Eileen Guerin. She was his Florence Nightingale. Later he had many heart issues which forced him into early retirement. He loved the outdoors and his garden was a source of real joy to him. He was involved in everything that was good in Moyvane, from the Drama Group in the sixties, the Carnival Committee 1969/1984 to the Development Association & Tidy Towns Committee up to his final illness. His treatments never held him back. When he was good he did all the things he wanted to do. Even this year he went to Listowel Races, he did the Greenway, he went to all the local festivals. His determination was amazing. He always had a smile, he was good company and was well liked by all who knew him and worked with him. His funeral was a testament to that. His family were his pride and joy. He will be missed by the love of his life, Eileen, his son Gerard (Paula), daughters, Sinead (Ned) & Helen (Dan) his grandchildren Eva, Emilie, Bobby, Meabh, Niall, Eamon & Colm, his brother, Eddie, sisters Nuala, Elaine & Majella and many cousins.
