Moyvane Notes – 16th February, 2009

Marian Hall:
You are all welcome to use the Marian Hall, it is in the true sense a parish hall, but can I appeal to those of you who use the building to please use only whatever lights are necessary. As you are all aware the cost of electricity has gone through the roof and so has the Marian Hall ESB bill. The bill for the last two months was over €900. We would appreciate it if you would remember this when you hit the switches next time you use the Hall.

Tarbert Comprehensive Adult Education:
Frank Moynihan cookery course will commence on Thursday February 26th from 8pm to 10pm and will run for six weeks. There are still vacancies. Tel. 068 36105.

St. Michael’s College, Listowel:
First year assessment will take place on Saturday, February 28th. All are welcome to attend from 7.20pm to 9pm. St Michael’s is proud of its past and is prepared for its future.

Chernobyl Knitting Project, Moyvane:
The Chernobyl Knitting Project group are hosting a meeting in the Marian Hall on Sunday, March 1st at 2.30pm. Fiona Corcoran of the Greatness Chernobyl Cause will attend. She will show a DVD of the project to highlight the cause. This is an open meeting and your support would be appreciated for this worthy cause. Please come and have a look.

Santiago de Compostela:
There are still a number of places available on the walking pilgrimage for 20-35 year olds from May 9th to May 16th, 2009. This "Journey in Faith" is a 115km walk over 7 days leading to the city of Santiago De Compostela, Spain. For information contact Helena at 064 30532.

The Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver:

Would like to thank you most sincerely for your support. The proceeds from their appeal came to €1,307.62. To show their gratitude you will be remembered in their prayers.

Seanchaí Literary Centre, Listowel:
The Literary Centre will begin a Creative Writing Course for children age between 7 and 11 on Saturday, February 21st at 10.30am. The course will run for 8 weeks and costs €50. For information and booking, telephone 068 22212.

Moyvane/Knockanure Community Games:
Thank you and well done to all who took part in the Art competition last Sunday week. Congratulations to Lisa Mulvihill who came fourth in the Solo Singing in Abbeydorney. Moyvane Ladies Football:
Registration takes place in the Marian Hall on Sunday, March 1 at 12 noon. Registration fee for players under 10 is €20 and €30 for all players over 10. New players welcome and we look forward to seeing you all again.

Death:
Sympathy is extended to the family of Sr. Hannah Carmody of the Hill, Moyvane who died in Athlone. She is survived by her sisters, Kit, Lil, May & Noreen, brothers, Eddie, John & Con. May they rest in peace.
