Moyvane Notes – 16th November, 2002

AS we approach the winter, one looks back at the past year and weather, it was a year similar to 1985 with the dry spring, wet summer and dry autumn. The last exceptionally fine year was 1995.

Moyvane/Knockanure senior citizens thanked those who contributed to the Radio Link collection. The amount raised was E949.

Kerry Parents and friends of the mentally handicapped (Moyvane Branch) are holding a fund raising night at Mariead’s Bar, Moyvane on Friday, November 29. Music by Pat Fitzmaurice Sound, spot prizes on the night. All welcome.

The Newtownsandes Co-op social will take place on Friday, November 22, at the Devon Inn. Tickets are on sale at the Creamery office.

The GAA has decided to establish a sub-committee along the lines of the very successful Finance/Asset committees to provide leadership and co-ordination for all playing activities of the club and furthermore put new structures in place to enable club teams to move forward on the playing fields. It is envisaged this sub committee would meet monthly for a maximum duration of an hour. The club invited Friends and Parents to a meeting next Monday night at 9 p.m., in the Marian Hall to discuss the formation of this committee.

Juniors, the replay of the Intermediate championship game with Asdee is on Saturday in Tarbert at 3 p.m. All players are asked to be in the dressing room at 2.30 sharp.

A very enjoyable night was had in Brosnans Bar on Friday night last as the keys of a Mercedes were handed over to Mike and Marie Shanahan of Ballylongford. They were the lucky winners in the Development Draw which was very successful.
