Moyvane Notes – 17th July, 2007

GAA Fixtures:

  • The juniors play Ballylongford in the semi-final of the County League on Friday 20th July at 7:30pm in Listowel.
  • The seniors are at home to Laune Rangers B in a County League back game on Saturday 21st July at 8pm.
  • The minors are away to St. Senans in the North Kerry League on Monday 23rd July at 8pm.

Coiste na nOg:

  • U12: Training for U12s will take place on Thursday 19th at 7pm.
  • U14: The final of the U14 NKL will be played on Monday 23rd July. Time and venue are yet to be decided.
  • U16: Moyvane are at home to Lispole in the County League on Wednesday 18th July at 7:30pm.

Ladies GAA:

  • U12: Moyvane play their County League game away to Currow on Friday 20th July at 6:30pm.
  • U14: Moyvane had a great start to their North Kerry League campaign, beating Finuge 1-10 to 1-2. They then played Abbeydorney on Wednesday last and after an excellent first half were leading at the break by 2-3 to 1-1. However, Abbeydorney battled hard in the second half and full time saw the teams sharing the points on a scoreline of 2-4 to 2-4. The date and time of the final are yet to be arranged. Well done to the team and trainer.
  • Training: Training for both teams on Wednesday 18th at 6:30pm.
  • Development Squad: U-10 development squad will take place on Wednesday 18th at 6:30pm.
  • Congratulations: The Ladies GAA teams and trainers wish to congratulate Evelyn Stack on winning the All Ireland U-15 draughts competition and to Sorcha Stack on coming second and Ciara Holly on coming fourth. Also, congratulations to Elaine Hudson on winning the Radio Kerry FAI competition. Elaine will carry the Fair Play Flag at Irelands European Championship qualifier game against Germany in Croke Park in October.

Summer Entertainment at Listowel Castle:

A meeting of the Listowel Traditional Irish Music Festival Committee will take place next Thursday 19th July at 8pm in the Seanchai Centre, The Square, Listowel. All are welcome.

Old Story:
This couple decided to go the Hotel where they stayed on the night of their wedding 50 years ago. When they went into the room the woman said to the man do you know what you hardly gave me time to take off my socks in this room on this night fifty years ago. The man said I will give you time to knit now then.

The death took place recently of Nora Flavin, Trien, Kilmorna at Lystoll Nursing Home. She was 85 years of age. Her remains were removed to Knockanure Church on Friday last. She was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery following Requiem Mass on Saturday last. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
