Thanks:
Moyvane Bord na nOg & Ladies Football Club would like to thank all who supported their recent fundraiser.
Kerry Emigrant Association:
The Church gate collection for the Kerry homeless in England will be held this Saturday & Sunday, August 23/24. All monies will go to helping our elderly people who emigrated to England in the fifties & sixties. Many of these people sent money back home to their families in an effort to reduce the effects of poverty in an Ireland of less prosperous times. Some of them have now fallen on hard times and are old and lonely. In the past, the funds received helped build and furnish five homes in Tralee for retired emigrants who would never have had the opportunity of returning to Ireland without your help. At the moment the organisation is in the process of acquiring land in the Castleisland area to build more accomodation. This type of project can only be undertaken with your continued support and donations. Many thanks.

Knockanure Vintage:
The Infant De Prague must have been out in most houses in Knockanure leading up to the weekend as the rain just cleared on time for the vintage day. The display was a bit late starting due to the bad morning. One man drove his Ferguson 20m from outside Adare, a two hour journey, both ways. The Kilmihill, Kilmaley, Co. Clare contingent came on the ferry driving 10 tractors, 3 trucks and 5 cars. There were stationary displays from as far as Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford and Rhode Co. Offaly. The threshing was very popular, with the older people explaining to the young how it worked. Jamie Chawke had a big audience as he shod Leo’s horse and gave a demonstration of a one time thriving trade. The tractor display was one of the biggest yet with some very old and rare 1970’s Ford & Ferguson tracators. Results of the Sheaf Tossing. Children. 1st Shane Winters, 2nd Jack Goulding, 3rd Jerry Clancy. Confined. 1st Thady Finucane. 2nd James Noonan. 3rd Richard Kelliher. Senior. 1st Paddy Punch, Kilmihill, Co. Clare 2nd Martin Kelliher, Abbeyfeale. 3rd John Dalton, Ballyhahill.
