Moyvane Notes – 18th February, 2007

Moyvane GAA – Munster Junior B Football Championship:
Moyvane Seniors will represent Kerry in the semi final of the Munster Junior B Football Championship. Moyvane will face a Cork team, Clan Na Gael, in the game, which will be played in Knockaderry on Sunday 25th of February at 2:00pm. This is a great opportunity for Moyvane to represent their county
and we wish the team, selectors and trainer every success in the competition.

North Kerry League:
Moyvane seniors began their North Kerry League campaign with a 2 point win over Ballyduff on Saturday, 17th February. The game was played in Ballyduff and the final scroe was 1-8 to 0-9. This is a great start to Moyvane's league prospects. For upcoming NKL fixtures, please check the Kerryman notes and the fixture posters around the village.

Moyvane Bord na nOg:
Moyvane Bord na nOg are holding a fund-raising quiz this Friday night, 23rd February at 9.30pm. All are welcome.

Juvenile Badminton:
Congratulations to Padraig Keane on winning the U16 tournament played in Tralee last week.

KDYS Listowel:
KDYS Listowel are holding a disco open to all teenagers at the Q Club, Ballybunion on Thursday 22nd February, between 8.30pm and 11pm. The cost of entry is €7. A strict no alcohol/drugs policy will be in place. For more information contact KDYS Listowel, Upper Church St., Listowel 068 23744.

Lent:
Wednesday next is Ash Wednesday, a day of Fast and Abstinence. Fast means confining oneself to one full meal and two snacks; and Abstinence means we do not eat meat either today or Good Friday. All who are in good health and between the ages of 18 and 65 are bound by the law of fasting. All over 14 are bound by the law of Abstinence. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at all Masses.

Death:
The death took place of Dan Danny O'Connor, Keylod, Moyvane. His remains were removed to Knockanure Church Sunday evening last and buried in Ahavoher on Monday. He was 88years of age. He is survived by his daughter, Mary, sons Tom and Mike and grandchildren. Sympathy is extened to the bereved family.
