Playground:
It is proposed to build a children’s playground in Moyvane. To date there have been three public meetings to discuss this project with support being overwhelmingly positive. After liaising with Kerry County Council the site which has been deemed most suitable is the green field site next to the presbytery. It is already zoned as a playground area in the local development plan and the owners of the land (St. Brendan’s Trust) have agreed to lease the land for this purpose. The proposed playground will include a variety of children’s play equipment to suit all ages and a separate adult exercise area within the site being transferred. Once the playground is completed it will be maintained and insured by Kerry County Council so no further costs will accrue. There is 75% grant assistance available through LEADER funding which may only be available for a limited time so the time to act is NOW. The committee hope to collect a contribution from every house in October – November to help raise the balance. The Moyvane playground will provide fun and enjoyment to the whole community for many years to come!
