Come on, support your local school and help pay for the new football pitch at the back of the school which will be a huge asset to the pupils into the future. It’s your school, they’re your children so “just do it”.

Tidy Towns:

Congratulations to all involved with the tidy towns competition. Once again points have increased, this time by four. This is a wonderful competition that has improved towns and villages throughout the country by leaps and bounds, it is an incentive to everyone to make an effort to keep their town or village tidy and free from litter. This is not an easy task and the cooperation of everyone is needed. Pride in the place you live in plays a huge part in it. The adjudication report remarked that on the day they visited Moyvane it was virtually litter free. The report was generally positive but there were one or two areas that could be improved on so when next year come around these are the things that can be worked on. You can all be proud of yourselves, residents of the village, businesses, school children, your efforts have been rewarded.

Thank You:

The Kerry Emigrant Support Housing Association would like to say Thank You to all who contributed to their recent Annual Church Gate collection. The amount collected was €559.28.

Horse & Pony Racing:

The concluding two Race Meetings in the Southern Region Circuit of the Horse & Pony Racing for 2013 will take place in both Ballylongford and Asdee in the next few weeks. First up will be  Ballylongford which goes ahead at Jerry & Marguerite Moran’s lands in Lenamore on Sunday September 29 beginning at 1.30pm. The Ballylongford Races return after lapse of two years mainly due to weather conditions, however this year will be a rather sad occasion. Missing will be the long serving chairman John Barrett who sadly passed away in December of last year, but his memory will be marked by the  the inaugural “Local Race” in which a Memorial Perpetual Cup in his honour will be presented to the winners by the Barrett Family. Indeed a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to the Bally Races for so many years. A big days racing is in store with a nine race programme. So mark the dates in your calendar or diary, September 29th Ballylongford Races in Lenamore commencing at 1.30pm. The next Sunday, October 6th is the final meeting of the season when Asdee races will be held at Littor Strand beginning at 12.30pm.

Grow It Yourself:

Limerick West GIY, with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food, goes back indoors for the next few months as it returns to D & M Garden Centre, Croagh on Thursday, September 19th where the subject for discussion will be “The Winter Garden and Perennial Vegetables”.  The meeting will start at 7pm sharp and all are welcome from the beginner to the experienced old hand.  As with all GIY meetings there is no charge to join in.
