Moyvane Notes – 19th December, 2007

Murhur NS:
Gabriel Fitzmaurice is retiring from teaching in Moyvane and a special Retirement Mass will be held in the Church on Thursday 20th December at 12noon. Afterwards there will be refreshments in the school. All are welcome.Gabriel was a teacher in the school for 27 years and was principal for five years. He will be replaced by Mary Madden.

Gambia Fundraiser:
A sincere thanks is expressed to those who attended the Gambia Fundraiser in Brosnan's Bar last Friday. Thank you also to those who sponsered spot prizes.

Development Association:
After a successful year and annual October festival, the Development Association have once again brought a festive air to our village with Christmas tree and lights.
We wish to thank all our sponsors for their support and goodwill throughout the year. Also members of the Rural Social Scheme, FAS members and Eddie Sheehy Electrical who have helped decorate our village. We wish each and everyone a very happy and holy Christmas.

Senior Badminton:
Congratulations to Carmel Hudson on winning The Waterstone Cup for Division 3 in Tralee on Sunday last.
The Division 3 Ladies team drew 3-3 with Kingdom in Moyvane on Wednesday last. This meant that having won all their previous games, they were winners of the ladies league. The team was Carmel Hudson, Jeanelle Griffin, Julie Fitzmaurice and Marguerite Lynch.
The Division 4 mixed league got under way on Wednesday and Moyvane got off to a winning start, defeating Kingdom 4-3. This was played in The Library in Castleisland and the team was Niamh Fitzmaurice, Carolanne Warrilow, Mgt. O'Donnell, Edward McCarthy, Myles Kearney, Christopher McCarthy and Pat Walsh.
Christmas fun Tournament will be played on Wednesday night at 7.45pm. All members are expected to play.

Moyvane/Knockanure CCE:
Moyvane/Knockanure CCE will host a Christmas Session on Thursday, 27th December in Speedy's, beginning at 9.30pm.

North Kerry Championship:
Beale will play Finuge in Moyvane next Sunday. The winners of this will play Desmonds in the Final.

Deaths:

The death took place suddenly of Denis McEnery, Listowel and late of Tubbertoureen, Moyvane. He was 60yrs old. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Thursday last and he was buried in Ahavoher cemetery following Requiem Mass on Friday. He is survived by his sister, Mary & brothers Pat Joe &  Johnny. 

The death took place on Saturday last of Sheila Buckley (nee Nolan), The Village, and late of Kilmorna. Her remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Monday evening last and she was buried in Murhur cemetery following Requiem Mass on Tuesday. Wife of the late Ned Buckley, who died in 1997, Sheila was 63. She is survived by her daughters, Bríd & Norín and her sons, Denis, Michael & Pádraig. 

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved families.
