Moyvane 2000: February draw was held last Saturday night in the Marian Hall. A new committee was elected for the local Newtownsandes Co-op in 1914, Chairman: William Stack, other members are Jer Nolan, John Mullane, M. Cunningham, Mike O’Connor, P. Mulvihill, John F. Scanlon, Tim Kennelly, Michael Mulvihill and Pat Hanrahan. The price per gallon of milk was just less than 4 d. The manager was John Houlihan. At that time also a rail of turf cost 3s and 9d. The following is an extract from the balance sheet of Newtownsandes Co-op in 1929. Gallons of milk supplied 867,648, lbs of butter made 223,095, gallons of cream sold 25,965 prices paid for milk per gallon 6.81d, price per lb of butter 18.84d. Total sales in that year £31,384, Total expenses – £4,837, Net Profit £760, Surplus per balance sheet £2,634. Stocktakers for that balance sheet were J.F. Scanlon, Chairman and Wm. Collins, vice-Chairman.
The marriage took place of Muriel O’Riordan, Leitrim Middle, Moyvane and Ian Byrne, Rathfarnham, Dublin. The reception was held in the Earl of Desmond.

The death took place of Thomas (Tommy O’) O’Sullivan, Moyvane Village and formerly of Birmingham. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Wednesday last, he was buried in Ahavoher Cemetery following Requiem Mass on Thursday last. He is survived by his son, sister, brother, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
The death took place recently of Patrick (Paddy) Galvin, Barragougeen and London, his remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Thursday last, he was buried in Murhur Cemetery following requiem Mass on Friday last. He is survived by his sisters, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
