SHOCK
THE parish was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of 18-year-old Patrick Hughes, Lower Aughrim, Moyvane. Patrick was a student of the Institute of Technology Tralee. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Saturday. A number of horses accompanied the funeral to Ahavoher cemetery where he was laid to rest following Requiem Mass on Sunday. He is survived by father, mother, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
GAA
Seniors: Moyvane start their County league campaign with a game against Churchill in Churchill this Sunday.
Minors: Moyvane start their County league with a game against Tarbert in Moyvane at 5pm on March 25 (Good Friday). Players are asked to check local posters for clarification of fixture.
Stand: work is progressing well on the new stand and at this stage we are ready to get the roof on. It is a very fine structure and when completed should be a credit to the supporters and members of our club. Please co-operate while the construction is going on and stay clear and obey the warning signs.
Membership: Membership for Moyvane GAA is €10 for ordinary and €30 for players, to cover the players Injury Scheme. This will close on March 31. Only members will be eligible for big match draws for tickets and votes at our next A.G.M. It is intended to have a list of members displayed at our April meeting so please join up now, as it will save a lot of problems later in the year.
DEATH
The death took place recently of Johnny Dunford, Glin Road, suddenly at his residence. He was 85 years of age. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Tuesday last, and he was laid to rest in Ahavoher Cemetery following requiem Mass last Wednesday. He is survived by his sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew, nieces, relatives and friends. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
BADMINTON
The Div 5 ladies challenge team defeated Killarney in Killarney 4-2 last Friday. Team was Deirdre Normoyle, Eileen Roche, Frances O’Reilly, and Anne O’Connor. Congratulations also to Michael J O’Connor on winning a silver medal with the Kerry Bruster Cup team which came second in that competition in Limerick last weekend.
