The Village Festival is here at last, this October Bank Holiday weekend.
- Friday night opens with the popular inter-pub singing competition and it looks as if this year is going to be more competitive than ever. The prize is a Perpetual Trophy.
- Saturday night, in The Marian Hall, Boro Buffet number six will be held. If you haven’t already got your ticket you are probably out of luck as there is a waiting list, but just in case you can contact any member of the committee.
- Sunday afternoon, the popular Vintage Display takes place at the Community Centre with Kiddies activities in the Centre. Sunday night a local concert will be held in the Marian Hall with the highlight of the evening being the selection of the "Queen of the Boro".
- Bank Holiday Monday sees the North Kerry Harriers kick off their hunt season. An Under 11 North Kerry football blitz will be held in the sportsfield and the Sam Maguire Cup will be there with at least one member of the victorious Kerry team.’The Valley of Knockanure’ – the highly acclaimed film written and directed by Ger Barrett – will be screened in The Marian Hall on Monday night at 8pm. This film is strictly for an adult audience. The Festival closes with the Rambling House in Brosnan’s Bar.

Congratulations to Paul Lynch, Moyvane who recently got married to Mary Mulvihill of Glin. Paul is son of Mary and the late Jack Lynch and Mary is daughter of Mary & the late Tim Mulvihill, Glin. The wedding took place in St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert and the reception was held in The Skellig Hotel, Dingle. Bridesmaids were Denise Hargadon & Mary Kissane. Best Man was Sean Lynch and Groomsman James Egan.
Moyvane ICA:
A Cookery Demonstration with Rachel Duff of Glin Castle & Ballymaloe Cookery School will be held next Tuesday night at 8pm sharp in the Marian Hall. Admission €5. Now there’s an event not to be missed. Here’s another date for your diary. The annual shopping trip to Cork, Wednesday, December 2nd. The bus will leave the village at 7am and it will only cost you €16. Get your Christmas shopping done and let the ICA do the driving!

Shannonside No Name Club will hold a Disco in Kirby’s Lanterns Hotel, Tarbert on this Friday, October 23rd from 9pm to 10pm with DJ Shicco. Admission €10. This is a non-alcoholic event and will be fully supervised. All are welcome.
Knockanure Community Centre:
