Village Festival:
Don’t forget this weekend is Festival weekend. This is a brief summary of what’s happening:
  • Friday evening: Official opening by Pat Leahy, Mayor of Kerry; Teenage Disco; Open Air Trad concert; Inter Pub talent competition.
  • Saturday evening: The Boro Buffet.
  • Sunday: The Vintage with Craft Fair and Country Market; Youth Club walk; Dog Show and Variety Concert on Sunday night.
  • Monday: North Kerry Harriers Hunt starts at 12 noon, very colourful, something different, don’t miss it.

Charity Match:

Moyvane GAA/ Moyvane Development Association are holding a charity match between North Kerry and West Limerick on Bank Holiday Monday, October 25th, 2010 in Con Brosnan Park Moyvane. Before the throw in, which is at 2pm, Darragh O’Shea, lord of Kerry midfield for 16 years and holder of 6 All-Ireland medals will be available to sign copies of his new book "Darragh: My Story". Both the North Kerry & West Limerick teams will have a selection of prominent inter county players. All proceeds from the match will go to the  Nano Nagle School, Listowel, Kerry Friends & Parents Association, Listowel and the Shane Healy Fund,  Glin. These are very worthy causes and your support would be greatly appreciated. Match tickets are €5 which includes entry to the game and a half time draw with superb prizes. First Prize: 2 Nights Bed & Breakfast & 1 Evening Meal in the Woodlands House Hotel, Adare. Second Prize: Dinner for 2, including Bottle of Wine, in Listowel Arms Hotel. Third Prize: €100 voucher from Mike Kennelly Hardware, Moyvane. Tickets are available from the charities, Moyvane GAA  and local sellers. The North Kerry team will be managed by Johnny Mulvihill along with Dino Dowling ( Beale), Johnny Wrenn( Tarbert), Christy Killeen ( Finugue) and Mike Mc Kenna (Duagh).The West Limerick team will be managed by Billy Lee, former Limerick manager. This will be a wonderful day in Moyvane with numerous events around the village including the local hunt, music, ceol agus craic.

Book Launch:
Brenda Fitzmaurice & Mary Kennelly will launch their new collection of Brenda’s paintings & Mary’s poems in their book "From The Stones" in Mairead’s bar on Friday, October 22nd at 10pm. There will be music on the night. All are welcome.

Seniors:
Moyvane take on Ballydonoghue in the in Ballylongford next Sunday, October 24th at 3:30pm. Best of luck lads
U16s: Moyvane are away to Finuge in Round 1 of the North Kerry Championship on Sunday, October 24th at 12 noon. Good luck to the team and management.
Feale Rangers U16s: A huge congratulations to the Feale Rangers U16 team who were crowned County District Champions 2010 when they overcame Kenmare District 2-10 to 0-11 in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney on Saturday, October 16th.  Well done to the Moyvane team members Brendan Galvin, Shane Stack, Edmund Sweeney, Timmy Noonan and Con Mulvihill along with management Joe O’ Keefe and Johnny Stack.
Scór na nOg: Anyone under 17 years interested in participating in the Scór na nÓg North Kerry Football Board Final on Saturday, November 6th please contact Moyvane GAA Scór Officer Elaine Scarlett on 087-2884869 as soon as possible. The categories are: Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Recitation, Ballad Group, Novelty Act, Question Time and Set Dancing.
Club Lotto: There was no winner of this week’s Jackpot of €5,200.  Numbers drawn were 8, 18, 24 and 27.  Lucky Dips of €40 each: John & Michelle c/o Speedy’s, Padraig Horan, Aughrim, Mairead Walsh, Kearney’s Bar, Brian Keane, Murhur and Liam Nolan c/o Speedy’s Bar.  Next week’s Jackpot is €5,400 and the draw will be held in Speedy’s Bar.


Dogs & Horses:
The C. C. & M Syndicate had a big win at Ballyheigue coursing last Sunday week when their dog, Cisco Town, won the Reserve Oaks Trial Stake and will go on to compete in Clonmel in January. Mike Corridan is a member of the syndicate and Gerard Curtain is the trainer. The local Burrow Syndicate won a handicap chase at Sligo a few weeks ago with their horse The Burrow Vic. Congratulations to all concerned.

Weddings:
Congratulations to Paula Stack and Philip Lyons who got married recently in the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane. Paula is daughter of John & Mary Stack, Gale Bridge, Moyvane and Philip is son of Dan & Mary Lyons, Derry, Listowel. Best man was Dan Lyons and groomsman was Micheal McGrath. Bridesmaids were Joanne Stack and Yvonne O’Connor. Flowergirls were Lauren Duffy and Rachel O’Connor. Pageboys were Danny and Kian Lyons. The reception was held in the Malton Hotel, Killarney.
Katrina Vaughan & James Culhane also got married in the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane. Katrina is  daughter of James & Rachel Vaughan, Leitrim West and James is son of Jimmy & Helen Culhane, Glin. Best man was Liam Culhane and groomsman was Jamie Vaughan. Bridesmaids were Maria and Jackie Vaughan. Flowergirls were Lauren Culhane and Chloe Kennelly. Pageboy was Shea Culhane. The reception was held in the Devon Inn, Templeglantine.

Céilí:
A Charity Ceili in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will be held in Fr. Casey’s Hall, Abbeyfeale on Saturday, October 23rd from 9:30pm to 1am. The AGM of the senior badminton club has been held and the following officers were elected:
