VILLAGE FESTIVAL
The 23rd Moyvane Village Festival will take place over this Bank Holiday weekend kicking off on Friday, October 23rd to Monday, October 26th. The Murhur & Knockanure Schools Art competition results will be announced on Friday in both schools. Friday night there is Rambling House night in the Marian Hal at 8.30pm.
Saturday at 11am Children’s workshops & FIFA Playstation competition will be held in the Community Centre. The 12th Boro Buffet takes place on Saturday night in The Marian Hall with live music by Tim Somers.
A packed day on Sunday includes the Youth Club sponsored walk, Bonny Baby & Glamorous Granny Competitions, Puppet Show & Dog Show as well as the very popular Vintage Show, Trade Fair & Farmers Market. On Sunday night in the Marian Hall a variety concert featuring local musicians, dancers & singers takes place. The Boro players are also back bringing us a comedy sketch called “The Boro Retirement Home”. This promises to be another great night’s entertainment.
On Monday there is the first hunt of the season for The North Kerry Harriers. A Halloween Fancy Dress & Party for under 12s takes place in the Marian Hall starting at 1.30pm also on Monday. NOVICE SHIELD: Moyvane had a great win over Fossa in the Semi Final of the Novice Shield on Saturday last. The teams were level 1-8 to 0-11 at full time and thanks to determination and team work from all if the players Moyvane progressed to the final on a final score of Moyvane 1-13, Fossa 0-15. DEATHS
Mike Lynch of Moyvane Village and formerly of Leitrim Middle finally lost his battle and passed away on Monday, September 28th. Mike is survived by his daughter Mary, New York, sister Mary, brothers George, John, James, Denny and Tom, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews and nieces. Removal took place to the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on Wednesday, September 30th with Requiem Mass on Thursday, October 1st followed by burial in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.
The sudden death took place recently in Lancashire of Sr. Nuala (Peg) O’Flaherty late of Tubbertoureen, Moyvane. She was a member of a large family, four of whom were nuns. She is survived by two of her sisters, Nora Moore, Kilmorna and Cathy Scannell, Listowel. Funeral took place on Friday, October 9th.
On Tuesday, October 6th, Joe O’Connor of Kilbaha passed away after a brief illness. Joe was a quiet, laid back man, the perfect gentleman. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary, daughter, Bridie, granddaughter Linda, great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Rachel and Laythan, son-in-law Jimmy, sister Nora Harney. The one great sadness in Joe’s life was the tragic death of his grandson, David. It had an enormous effect on both his life and Mary’s but now he is happily reunited with his beloved David.
The Funeral Mass for Paddy Holly, Leicester and late of Tarmons, Tarbert took place at St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert on Saturday, October 17th. He is survived by many nephews and nieces, Emma, Teresa, Helen and Anne who live in the parish.
May they all rest in peace.
