Moyvane Notes – 2nd November, 2002

THE annual village festival took place of the bank holiday weekend and was a great success with huge crowds of people converging on the village. It was organised by the Development Association, it is the Associations means of fund-raising for improvements around the village, and for the village’s entry in the Tidy Towns competition. The association is very grateful to all it’s sponsors, helpers who made the festival such a success.

Chiropodist will attend the Marian Hall this Saturday between 1.30 pm and 5.30 p.m. For appointment contact Eileen Quinn 49472.

Donate unwanted clothes and shoes to help the people of Embul-bul in Kenya. The collection bag should be filled with the following items only, all types of dry and clean ladies, gents and children’s clothing, all types of household textiles, bedlinen, curtains and towels, all types of shoes (except ladies high heels and ladies boots). The shoes are to be tied in pairs and put in separate bags. The collection point is the corner of the car park of Moyvane church before midday this Thursday.

The AGM of Moyvane/Knockanure CCE will be held in the Marian Hall on Monday, at 8 p.m.

The video of Hard Times III is on sale at Angela Fitzmaurice’s Supermarket, Moyvane at E15.

The Diocesan collection in aid of the Irish Church Commissions and agencies will be taken up at all Masses next weekend.

A fashion show in aid of Knockanure Resource Centre will be held in the Lantern’s Tarbert tonight Wednesday, October 30, at 8 p.m. Cheese and wine reception at 7.30 p.m.

The West Limerick set dancing club are holding set ceili in the Convent Hall, Abbeyfeale on Sunday next November 3, at 4 p.m. Music by Matt Cunningham. All sets called.

Moyvane seniors defeated Valentia in the final game of the County league on Saturday last but because Cordal drew their final game we drop down to division four. Saturday’s game played in Glin with heavy rain and strong winds making good football impossible Moyvane were much stronger and won comfortably on a score of 2 – 8 to 0 – 5. Next Sunday we are playing Beale in the replay of the North Kerry championship in Ballylongford at 12.30.

The replay of the Intermediate championship game with Asdee did not take place on Sunday last as no pitch was available.

Moyvane GAA meet on Monday night in the Marian Hall at 8 p.m. All members are welcome.
