Moyvane Notes – 20th April, 2008

GAA – Senior Results:
Moyvane lost out to Firies in an away County League game on April 6th. The final score was Firies 3-7, Moyvane 1-3. Moyvane team and scorers: Diarmuid Fitzmaurice, Conor Flynn, Mossy Mulvihill, Eoin Flaherty, Tom Sheehy, Denis Kennelly, John Mulvihill, Mike O Connor, Diarmuid Leahy, John Jack Mulvihill (0-1), William Madden, Kieran Kiely, Mike Greaney, Cathal O Connor (1-0), Cal Flynn (0-1). A minutes silence was held by both teams and spectators as a mark of respect for the late Michael and Denis Hanrahan, Moyvane.

Moyvane had an important home win in the County League against Glenbeigh/Glencar on Saturday April 12th. In a close scoring game Moyvane ran out eventual winners on a final score line of Moyvane 1-11, Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-13. Moyvane secured their second County League win against Ballydonoghue at home on Saturday 19 April. Ballydonoghue lead at the break by 1-8 to 1-4 but a great second half display by Moyvane saw them run out eventual winners on a score line of Moyvane 4-10, Ballydonoghue 2-10. Senior Fixtures: Moyvane play Tarbert in Round 1 of the Junior Club Championship on Friday 25 April at 7pm in Tarbert.

Minor Results:
Moyvane were at home to Asdee/Ballylongford on Friday 18 April in the County League. Moyvane had a lead of 1-10 to 0-4 at half time but 4 Asdee/Ballylongford goals in the second half saw them take the points on a final score line of Moyvane 1-15, Asdee/Ballylongford 4-8. Moyvane team and scorers: Shane McEnery, Conor Leahy, Patrick Finucane, Diarmuid Kennelly, Eoin Stack, Thady Finucane, Donal Leahy, James Noonan (0-2), Kevin Kennelly (0-4), James Flavin (1-1), Kevin Fitzmaurice (0-2), Martin Sheehy (0-3), Johnny Greaney (0-3) (SO). Junior Results:
Moyvane lost out to Castleisland Desmonds in the North Kerry League on April 14th on a score line of Castleisland 2-8, Moyvane 0-6. Moyvane team and scorers: Kieran Walsh, Mike Woods, Timmy Kennelly, Aidan O Connor, Tom Keane, Kieran Stack, Kieran Kiely, John Jack Mulvihill (0-1), Donal Leahy (0-1), Mike Greaney, Aidan Keane, Kevin Stack, DJ Keane (0-2), Oliver Carmody, John McGrath (0-2). Subs: Kieran Lane for Mike Woods, Niall Sheehan for Aidan O Connor, Niall Mulvihill for Kevin Stack, Chris Foley for Oliver Carmody.

Club Membership is still available at €40 for players and €20 for non players. Membership can be paid to committee members.

Coiste na nOg:
U16:
Moyvane u16 have had the perfect start to their NKL campaign with two home wins over Finuge 4-10 to 0-5 and Tarbert 3-12 to 2-5. They are away to Asdee/Ballylongford on Thursday 24th April at 7:30pm.

U14:
Moyvane u14 were unlucky to lose out to Tarbert by 1 point in their County League game on Wednesday last on a score line of Tarbert 3-5, Moyvane 2-4. Scorers: Con Mulvihill 2-0, PJ Stack 0-1, Ryan Sheehan 0-2, Timmy Noonan 1-1. They are at home to Asdee/Ballylongford on Wednesday 23 April at 7:30pm.

U8/U10:
Training for u8's and u10's every Tuesday evening in the Sportsfield at 6:30 until 7:30.

Moyvane ICA:
The next Knitting evening takes place on Tuesday 29th of April at 8.30pm. Everybody welcome.

Community Alert:
A meeting of the Community Alert will be held on Wednesday April 23rd (tonight) in the Marian Hall at 9pm. All members are asked to attend.

Badminton:

The Club 'end of season' tournament was held recently and results were Ladies Section 1 winners were Olive Keane and Noirin Buckley, 2nd were Francine Collins and Michelle Corridan; Section 2 winners were Carmel Hudson and Carolanne Warrilow, 2nd Jennifer Keane and Deirdre McElligott. Men Section 1 winners were Maurice Cuddigan and Pat Walsh, 2nd were Sean Pender and John Paul Riordan; Section 2 winners were Alan Kearney and Donie Enright, 2nd were Timmy Duggan and Christopher McCarthy.
The Div 5 Mens League was won by Moyvane team Sean Pender, Maurice Cuddigan, Ned Stack, Padraig Hanrahan and Martin Flynn by defeating both Listowel and Kenmare.
The Div 2 team defeated Kingdom in the semi- final of the Knockout Cup and wil contest the final in Tralee on Wednesday next. The team was Jennifer Keane, Eileen Horan, Catriona Ambrose, Timmy Duggan, Alan Kearney and Kevin Stack.

Ml. J. O'Connor was finalist in the Div2 Mixed Championship on Friday last in Killarney.

Death: The death took place recently of Sean Aherne, Moher Cross, Moyvane; Husband of the late Aggie. He is survived by his sons, daughters, family, relatives and friends. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
