Moyvane

Moyvane Notes – 20th July, 2002

THE provision of a church radio link system for parishioners who are unable to get Mass is being considered by the Moyvane/Knockanure senior citizens committee. The committee would like to establish the number of potential applicants all of whom will be expected to pay E30 to cover the cost of their own receiver. The project will cost about E10,000.

If interested please contact Eileen Collins, secretary 068-69478 or any member of the committee before Wednesday, July 31. This system already operates in a number of parishes in the County.

Collection – the National council for the Blind will hold their annual church gate collection next weekend July 20 and 21.

Seniors – Moyvane had a good win over Brosna in the Michael Kennelly Cup last weekend. That now puts us in the final against Finuge which we hope will be arranged soon. Moyvane played well and took their scores accurately. Donal Kearney scored 1-2 from full forward but overall they played well. Final score Moyvane 2-7 Brosna 0-7. Next week we might be playing county League so players are asked to check local posters for definite fixtures.

Juniors – Our Juniors are waiting for clarification of results of outstanding games to see if they qualified for semi-finals of the Junior League. More details next week.

Minors – Moyvane had a good win over St. Senan’s in the North Kerry league on Thursday night last. Despite being short some key players they displayed great determination to come back into a game that looked to be slipping away from them. They were 2-3 to 0-5 down at half time. Then Aidan Keane got the first goal for them with about ten minutes left. that gave them great encouragement and they threw everything forward in an effort to get the winning scores. St. Senan’s were hanging on to a lead of one point with time almost up. Then when a long delivery from mid field dropped into the Senan’s goalmouth, Chris Foley got his fist to the ball finished it to the net for a capital score. Moyvane held on to win on a score of 2-7 to 2-5. They have no game this Thursday because of County Minor championship but they are playing Asdee/Ballylongford on Thursday night in Asdee at 7.30pm U/10 play Beale this Wednesday evening 17 at 7.30.

U/12 – Congratulations to our U/12 who won their section of the County League last weekend. This they achieved by defeating Gneeveguilla in Moyvane after a great game. All our lads played very well and are looking forward to the North Kerry league which starts off in the next week or two. Well done to team manager Paddy Leahy and his selectors for their great work with the team and lets hope they can keep the effort going.
