Moyvane Notes – 20th October, 2008

Moyvane Village Festival:
It’s that time of year again, October Bank Holiday weekend and another festival to look forward to. As usual all ages are catered for, beginning with the Under 18’s on Friday night with a Disco by D.J. Declan in the Community Centre starting at 9pm. At 10pm the Inter Pub Talent Competition will be held. So things will get off to a flying start with lots of entertainment. The highlight of the weekend takes place in The Marian Hall on Saturday night (after Mass) with the Boro Buffet. Now there’s an evening not to be missed. This is a great parish night and tickets are always very scarce so if you haven’t booked yours you may end up on the waiting list as is usual. The menu is mouthwatering. Just to give you a flavour – the starter is Roast Aughrim Pork in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce on a Bed of Rice. Main course, Leitrim Turkey & Ham with Cranberry Sauce & Sausage Meat Stuffing, Gale River Salmon Mayonnaise, all served with Kilbaha Mixed Salads & Colcannon. For Desert, Murhur Apple Crumble, Profiteroles with Chocolate Sauce & Tiramisu. Now if that doesn’t whet your appetite, I don’t know what will! And for liquid refreshment, Tea, Coffee, Guinness & Carlsberg and the Vino and all for just €25.
On Sunday the Vintage Rally and Show will be held at 1pm and later that evening at 8pm a Local Variety Concert will be held in the Marian Hall. Monday at 10.30 a Juvenile Interclub Blitz will be held in the Sportsfield. The North Kerry Harriers First Hunt of the Season will begin in the Village at 12.00. This is always a very colourful scene and should not be missed and to wrap the weekend the Rambling House will be held in the Corner, Brosnan’s Bar at 8pm. Let’s all take care of our own so come out and support the Village Festival. The committee put a lot of hard work into this weekend so let’s show our appreciation by supporting it.
