A LOCAL group of Wren Boys will perform on St. Stephen’s Day and will be broadcast on Radio Kerry. The collection will be in aid of the Paul O’Flaherty Benefit Fund and the Church Radio Link System.
The Community IT Access will hold courses in 2003. Basic course will continue as usual, one morning/evening per week. the duration of the above course will be 10 weeks. Modules to be converted include Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Email. The follow on course will be more intense (1) Word Processing/File management; (2) Spreadsheets/Information Technology and (4) Photo Restoration. Congratulations to Tara Mulvihill who has qualified for the Munster semi-final in the solo-singing section after her win in the County Final on Sunday last at the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney. The Munster semi-final will be held in Cappamore, Co. Limerick on Sunday, January 5, at 2.30 p.m.
The preliminary results of the 2002 census, as taken from Electoral Division, Newtownsandes which includes the village of Moyvane, South of the village and parts of Knockanure recorded a population of 1,009 in 2002, In 1996 it recorded a population of 1,053, a decrease of 44 and percentage decrease of 4.2%. Leitrim, which includes areas North of the village recorded a population of 483 in 2002, in 1996 it recorded a population of 497, a decrease of -14 and a percentage decrease of -2.8%.
Kilmeany shows an increase of the 1996 Census. In 2002 it recorded a population of 619, in 1996 it was only 600 an increase of 19 and a percentage increase of 3.2%.

The death took place of Fr William Broderick, Sacramento and late of Coilagurteen. He was ordained in June 1947, and was in his late seventies.
The death took place recently of Dan Keane, Portlaoise and late of Kilmenaey. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
