IT has been decided at a meeting of the organisations within the parish to make a presentation to Fr Nolan on his retirement as Parish Priest. Parishioners have been invited to contribute, special boxes will be placed in both Churches on the weekend of July 28 and 29, and also in the Post Office.
The last of the Cunningham Clan has bid farewell to the village. After more than 100 years residing in Moyvane Village, Eddie Cunningham has decided to leave his ancestral home. His grandfather, Maurice Cunningham arrived in Moyvane Village away back in 1900. A native of townland of Kilbaha, he married Mary Ann Foran, the had 10 children. One of the boys William inherited the family home. Two of the boys joined the priesthood and ministered in America in the Diocese of Lousiana, while talking to Eddie last week, he told one that his father lived all his life in Moyvane Village. Eddie recollects with fond memories his old neighbours Dan and Margaret Walsh, Paddy and Mary Enright RIP and Barney Enright who is still with us. Eddie’s new home is in Anghrim.
Bord na Nog, Moyvane U-10’s play Ardagh at Moyvane sportsfield this Friday night at 7.30 p.m., all team members have been asked to attend.
Athletics, Moyvane/Knockanure Club, David Culhane of Tarbert has won gold, U-9 60M, in the All-Ireland, juvenile athletic championships in Tullamore on Saturday last. David, already the Munster champion, won his semi-final convincingly. In the final he gave a blistering display against very strong opposition to be well clear at the finish.
