Moyvane GAA – Seniors:
Moyvane had a great win over Na Gaeil in the final of the County Novice Championship on Sunday last. These were two evenly matched teams and we were treated to a close and exciting game. Na Gaeil started well and were three points up after ten minutes when Moyvane struck for their first goal. A move which started in their own full back line ended with Sean Lynch finishing to the net with a great shot. Moyvane were now back in control and on top in most areas of the field. Coming up to the break, Na Gaeil got through for a well-taken goal and, again, the game was back in the melting pot. At half-time Moyvane led by 1–7 to 1–4.

The second period started off at a lively pace and soon Na Gaeil were back on level terms at 1–8 each. Then the Moyvane lads dug deep into the reserves of fitness and added a few points from Eddie Bowler. The clinching score came seven minutes from the end when Cathal O’Connor was at the end of another great Moyvane move to finish to the net and send the Novice Championship on its way to Moyvane. On a day when Moyvane had all the stars, the work rate of Johnny Mulvihill, Denis Kennelly, Tom Sheehy in defence, Sean Lynch & John J Mulvihill in mid-field and Eddie Bowler, Paddy Curtin & Cathal O’Connor up front was outstanding. All in all this was a fantastic team performance and well done to D J Mulvihill, team trainer, and selectors Johnny Stack and Denis O’Connor for a great effort. Final score in the game Moyvane 2–13 Na Gaeil 1–9.
