Moyvane Coiste na nOg:
U12: Congratulations to Moyvane U12 who finished unbeaten top of Division 2B of the North Kerry League, with a win at home against Listowel on Sunday, July 22nd, on a score of 4-05 to 1-13.Moyvane started slowely but with a goal after 10 minutes they went into the lead by a point and by half time they were 4 points ahead. In the second half Moyvane started stronger against the wind and built up a nine point lead, scoring 3 goals. However with 10 minutes to go they ran out of steam giving Listowel the chance to close the gap. It finished with a single point win.Well done to the all involved.  The team was Shane Quinn, Christopher Keane, Liam Greaney, Eamon Stack Mulvihill, Shea Leahy, Marie Kennelly, Andrew Fitzgerald, Evan Flavin, Darren Hughes, Ciara Haugh, Fergal Leahy, Cian Rogan, Jason O’Gorman, Tadhg McEvoy, Eimer Shine, Grainne S-Mulvihill, Aoife Bowler, Ciara Hudson, Aaron Slemon , Rebecca Curran, Thomas Walsh, Kieran Swan, Micheal Fogarty, Sean Slemon, Seamus O’Sullivan. U14: The North Kerry league starts on Monday, July 23rd with Moyvane in Division 2 (Moyvane, Finuge, Duagh, Tarbert, Ballyduff, Bally/Asdee) .

U16: Moyvane at home to Cromane on Thursday, July 26th.

Bag Packing:  Sincere thanks to all who gave there time to take part in the Bag Packing fund raiser in Tesco Abbeyfeale recently, Raising €500!

Ladies Football: The under 16 girls beat Fossa in Division 4 of the County League on Sunday, July 15th in Moyvane. This was a well contested game with Moyvane winning on the score of  5-9 to 2-8. They are away to Castlegregory this week .The under 14s had a great win over Beale on Thursday, July 19th, the girls winning out by just 1 point ,well done to all.

Kerrywide:
Sean Hurley’s Kerrywide, which was recorded recently at the Active Retirement Day at Knockanure Community Centre will be broadcast on Radio Kerry on Sunday, July 29th at 9pm. Make a note of the day and the time and listen and find out what’s going on in the locality.

Senior Citizens Outing:
Friday, July 27th is the date for your diary. Bus leaving Moyvane Village at 12 noon, visiting Foynes Museum with light lunch at Boyces Gardens. Tea and scones will be served in the Bridewell. Total cost €20. Book with Maureen 49365 or Ita 49134.

North Kerry Reaching Out:

As part of the Week of Welcomes, North Kerry Reaching Out Genealogy, are hosting a traditional Rambling Night at Clounmacon Community Centre at 8.30pm on Saturday, August 4th. Kerry Branch – National Council for the Blind:
The Kerry branch of the National Council for the Blind wish to thank the collectors and very generous subscribers of Moyvane and Knockanure to its recent Church Gate Collection. The amount collected was €732.85.

ICA Annual Outing:
This year’s outing is to Cobh visiting Cobh Heritage Centre and the Titanic Museum is on Friday, August 24th. Cost is €60. Names and money to Eileen Roche at 087 6679943.

Olympics:
You are all aware that the London Olympics begin this Friday, July 27th with the official opening ceremony. You might be interested to know that there is a Moyvane man taking part in this spectacular affair. He is Patrick Ahern of Leitrim Middle (son of Nell & the late Paddy). He is just one of 10,000 so you may not really get to see him but it’s nice to know that someone local is involved. He has been rehearsing for the last number of months, first in Dagenham and then in the magnificent Olympic Park in Stradford where the games are being held. Famous film director, Danny Boyle, of "Slum Dog Millionaire" fame, has produced a stunning cultural show for the opening ceremony. The various sections will depict British way of life and its history, namely " Our Green & Pleasant Land". Patrick is in the Industrial Revolution section so watch out for a glimpse of him. RTE 2 is covering the ceremony starting at 8.30pm Friday night.   

Ireland’s Only Non-Booze Festival:
Knockfierna Heritage Society will celebrate the ancient Festival of Lughnasa on this weekend, Saturday, July 28th with a walk at 7pm at the ancient hilltop of Knockfierna, the site of the Festival of Lughnasa for many centuries. This is followed by an evening of traditional music, song & story at the Rambling House which dates back prior to famine times.
