Moyvane/Knockanure
OVER the past forty years there has been no decline in the population of Moyvane. From the village to the Anamoy Bridge, there is an increase in over forty new houses and the same in the Tarbert Road with a lot of new houses being built there in the past number of years. However the number of inhabited houses has declined in the Glin Road. The rural part of the parish, Lower Aughrim and Ahalahan are areas which have increased in population also. There are approximately 1200 people registered to vote which is an increase in population over the 40 year period also. However, the numbers attending the local national school have dropped.
The marriage took place of Rose Mulvihill, Leitrim West and Tony Collins, Duagh at the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane. The reception was held in Lanterns, Tarbert.
Ladies football: Marguerite Lynch and the Kerry under-14 team defeated Meath in the All-Ireland football final on Saturday in Nenagh.
