Moyvane

Moyvane Notes – 26th May, 2001

WITHIN the speed limit of Moyvane, there has been planning permission granted for the erection of approximately 60 houses. Planning permission is granted for 43 houses on the Knockanure Road, 11 in the Glin Road and four in Main Street, and further houses are being built in Woodgrove. Should all these houses be developed, there certainly would be extra infrastructure and facilities needed to meet such demand. There is a modern Community Centre in the village and a modern hall which is second to none in the County. The Development Association have being carrying out improvements around the village such as Nature Walk and many more things.

Also another eyesore is the unsightly fence in Lower Main Street. There is going to be major resurfacing in the Village. There is also to be extra lighting erected back to the Sportsfield, a number of County Councillors have allocated money towards it. The GAA are fund-raising for a major improvement to the Sportsfield.

The juniors had mixed luck last week. On Thursday night they were beaten by Ballyduff in the North Kerry league after a very good game. We were short a few regulars but in fairness the lads put in a very spirited performance and lost out by three points. Then on Friday night they beat Knockanure in the Urban league. That was their second win in the competition. This Friday night Moyvane are playing Tarbert in Knockanure at 8 p.m. All players are asked to be in good time. Next Tuesday we are playing Desmonds in Castleisland in the North Kerry league at 8 p.m.

Moyvane under 14 are playing Tarbert in Tarbert on Wednesday night in the North Kerry league at 8 p.m. A bus will leave the corner at 7.30.

Moyvane under 12 are playing Knocknagoshel in Knocknagoshel this Sunday at 7 p.m., in the County League. A bus will leave the corner at 6 p.m.

Moyvane seniors played an exciting draw with John Mitchels in the County league last week. A light drizzle made conditions a bit greasy but both sides coped well and some excellent scores were taken.

Mitchels stormed back and equalised with the last kick of the game. Final score Moyvane 0 – 8, John Mitchels 0 – 8. Next Saturday night Moyvane play Castlegregory in the County Intermediate championship in Castlegregory at 7.15 p.m. The reason for the early start is that extra time will be required in the event of a draw.

Training will start on Sunday morning at noon for U-10 players, so everybody should be on time.
