GOOD NEWS:
Minister Jimmy Deenihan has just announced that Irish Water has given approval to the laying of 2.28 Km of 315mm watermain along the N69 from Cloonturbbrid South to Blakes Cross Road. The work is expected to commence in February and it is estimated that it will take two months to complete. The replacement of this section of pipe will cost in the region of €300,000. The people of the Moyvane /Lenamore/Tarmons area, have been affected for a number of years because of breakages along the pipeline. In 2014 alone there were 35 breakages, resulting in the water supply in the area it serves being cut off for long periods at times. This has resulted in major disruption for the local population. Also Irish Water has given approval for tenders to be invited, for the replacement of a further 3.35KM of 315mm watermain along the N69 from Derry South to Leitrim, Moyvane. The preparation of tender Documents for this proposal is at an advanced stage and it is intended that the tender process will commence in March of this year. Provided that the appointment of a contractor proceeds without difficulty, pipe laying should commence in the Autumn.
