MOYVANE seniors are playing Valentia in the County League on Sunday in Valentia at 2 p.m.
Moyvane juniors had a good win over Kerins O’Rahillys in the second round of the Barrett Cup on Friday night. They are playing Austin Stacks on Friday night in Moyvane at 7 p.m. Players are asked to be on good time. Moyvane are also playing Brosna on Thursday night in Duagh in the final of the Shield. The game is timed for 7 p.m.
Moyvane under 16’s had a good win over Valentia in the quarter-final of the County league on Monday and are now playing Listry at a Tralee venue on Monday night at 7 p.m. Last week they made no mistake with a convincing 3 – 12 to 1 – 6 victory.
Moyvane under 15’s are playing John Mitchel’s in the County league on Sunday morning at 12 noon in Tralee. All players should assemble at Brosnans corner at 11 a.m.
Moyvane under 12’s lost to Tarbert in the final round of the North Kerry league. Now it’s on to championship where they meet Tarbert again in Moyvane on Sunday morning at 12 noon.
The North Kerry board are running an under 13 championship which will start on September 29 and Moyvane are drawn against Emmets.
Marion Hall Blotto Results: There was no winner of the £1,800 jackpot in last Thursday night’s draw. The winning numbers were: 10, 12, 21, 27. Local History: Philip Cunningham was one of the most senior united Irishmen in Clonmel and although born in Moyvane was primarily active in North Tipperary in 1798-9. Cunningham ran a public house and worked as a mason in that thriving town.
Cunningham, born in Moyvane, was later executed.
Moyvane Golf Society will have an outing to Kilrush Golf Course this Sunday. Tee time 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. captain’s day.
The marriage took place on Saturday of Caroline Culhane, Leitrim Middle and M. Langan, Tarmons Tarbet at the Church of Assumption, Moyvane.
The marriage took place on Friday of Michael (Mike) Broderick, Coilagurteen and Eileen Holly, Ballydonoghue at Ballydonoghue Church. The reception was held in The Lanterns.
The death took place of Fr. James (Jim) Leahy. Interment took place in the Old Cemetery, Knockanure. Sympathy has been extended to the bereaved family.
