GAA: Moyvane seniors were defeated by Ballyduff in the county league on Saturday last in Moyvane. Both sides were short a few regulars but a very entertaining game was played. This defeat puts us in big trouble at the wrong end of the table. Both sides were short but in the end Ballyduff were victors on a score of 1-9 to 0-7. Next Sunday we travel to Lispole to play Lispole in the next round of the county league. We need to get back on tracks so a big effort is asked for. The game is timed for 2.30pm.
The juniors had a great win over Gale Rangers in the Urban league last weekend. They are now in the semi-final which will take place on Friday next. Players are asked to check local posters for definite fixture.
Pride of place this week goes to the under-14 team after their great victory in the final of the North Kerry league against Asdee. This was a very enjoyable game with both sides giving their all. Moyvane had many stars on the night but in defence Donal Enright and Michael Greaney stood out, while in mid-field the Flynn brothers played very well and up front Shane Enright and the outstanding Patrick Curtin did the real damage. At half-time things did not look so good for our lads when we were down by three points 0-4 to 0-1. A great goal by Shane Enright ten minutes into the second half got our fellows going and a well taken second by Patrick Curtin put us in the driving seat. Moyvane had a few anxious moments before the end but held on to a score of 2-2 to 0-6. On the night everybody was a hero and well done to selectors Brendan Keane, Jerry Mulvihill and Michael O’Connor for their great effort and commitment.
Under 15: Moyvane had a great win over Firies recently in the county league. They now meet Currow on Friday night next in Currow at 7.15pm. A bus will leave the corner at 6pm sharp.
Under 10 travels to Ardagh this Thursday night. Bus leaves the village at 6.30pm.
