Moyvane Development Association:

The Recent Tidy Towns results at first appeared disappointing with a 3 mark loss; our first since 2001. The Adjudication Report noted an error in last years marks and it has now been corrected. On judging day “Your litter campaign is obviously having successful results as the village was almost litter free” the judge noted. Well done to all involved and we will continue to keep Moyvane a Tidy Town in 2011.

The date and venue has been set for North Kerry Finals of Scor Na nOg 2010 kindly sponsored once again by Eileen and Paddy Horgan, of the Amber Filling Station, Tarbert Road, Listowel and will take place at the Community Centre, Asdee on Saturday, November 6th commencing at 7pm sharp. It is very important that all the Clubs Cultural Officers should make a special effort so as to have their Clubs represented. Our Scor competitions offer a wonderful opportunity to our membership to fulfil one of the main aims of our Association, that of preserving and promoting our distinctive culture, be it our music, song or dance. Clubs are reminded that it is compulsory to take part in any two of the eight competitions but you can compete in as many of the competitions as desired; Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Recitation, Ballad Group, Novelty Act, Question Time or Set Dancing. It was at this stage of the competition last year that both the St. Senans, Novelty Act Group and Saoirse O Connor, Solo Singing, Ballylongford began their journey which took them all the way to the Munster Finals held in Mallow and one step away from appearing in the All Ireland Finals. The County Semi Finals will take place for the North of the County at the Community Centre, Abbeydorney on Friday, November 19th with a starting time of 7pm sharp and the County Finals will be staged in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Sunday, December 5th at 6.30pm sharp.
