Moyvane Notes – 29th April, 2007

Moyvane GAA:

Moyvane seniors began their Junior Club Championship with an away victory against Glenbeigh/Glencar on Sunday last. Moyvane fought back well to overcome a 5 point deficit at half time to emerge winners on a score line of – Moyvane 0-13, Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-7. Scorers for Moyvane were Maurice Kearney 0-8, Patrick Curtin 0-2, John Jack Mulvihill 0-2 and William Madden
0-1.

Moyvane Juniors received the points on Tuesday 24th as Castleisland Desmonds
conceded the game.

Fixtures:

  • Moyvane Seniors play Emmets at home on Thursday 3rd May at 7:30pm in the North Kerry League.
  • Moyvane Minors play Tarbert at home on Friday 4th May at 7:30pm in a County League back game.
  • Moyvane Juniors play Clounmacon away on Monday 7th May at 7:30pm.

Coiste na nOg:
U-12 – Moyvane beat St. Pats at home on Sunday last on a score line of –  Moyvane 4-11, St. Pats 2-13. They play Beale in Ballybunion on Sunday 6th May at 7pm. Bus will leave the village at 6pm.

U-14 – Moyvane beat Glenbeigh/Glencar at home on Wednesday last on a scoreline of Moyvane 5-9, Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-8. They play Castlegregory away this Wednesday 2nd. The bus will leave the vilage at 6:15pm.

Ladies GAA:
The U-12 ladies team beat Castlegregory 1-7 to 1-1 in Moyvane on Wednesday last.

Wedding:
The marriage took place of Noreen Walsh, Moher, and Finbar Kiely Cork at the Church of the Assumption Moyvane on Friday last. The reception was held in Ballygarry House Hotel.

Cuckoo:
The chorus of the cuckoo was heard in the locality during the week. The cuckoo has become more plentiful in the last few years.

Moyvane ICA:
Knitting – I.C.A. are knitting patches to make a Quilt for the children of Chernobyl. For this we need lots of wool. Anyone with unused or odd balls of wool – any colour, or anybody wishing to knit themselves please contact any I.C.A. member.

Moyvane/Knockanure CCE:
The County Fleadh takes place in Milltown from 22nd – 24th June. All those wishing to take part must contact the secretary with details by 16th May. Contact no. 068 49909 after 6pm. Please note that those intending to take part in the Fleadh Ceoil must have their subscription paid by this date.

Walking Festival:
The Cuckoo Walking Festival will be launched at the Bridewell this coming Friday May 4, 2007 at 8:30pm. The organizers have put in place a variety of walks to cater for all types of walkers. A great weekend of entertainment including tae in the bog on Bank Holiday Monday is but part of the festival programme. Old Story:
This man one time after receiving a solicitor’s letter from his neighbour went to his own solicitor to reply to it, the solicitor said to him hold on and I will write out a letter so you can drop it in on your way home, the man opened the letter on his way home and at the end of the letter he saw written 2 fat ducks here, you pluck one and I pluck the other.

Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children:
Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin wish to thank most sincerely the people who supported their recent Church Gate Collection and all the people who took up the collection. A total of €945 was collected.

Vincent Carmody – North Kerry Memorabilia:
Vincent Carmody will have two New York shows displaying a new collection of placemats and coasters all of which will portray North Kerry in olden times. Also on display will be a collection of wall posters and on both occasions he will present a slide show presentation detailing a history of Listowel photographs from 1850 to 1950. These shows will be held at The Kerry Hall, 305 McClean Avenue, Yonkers on Thursday 10th May from 7pm to 11pm, and Sean Ogs Pub, 6002 Woodside Avenue, Queens on Saturday 12th May from 2pm to 7pm.

SIPTU Home Help:
“Be Fair to those who Care:” Meeting in the Listowel Arms, Hotel at 8pm on Wednesday 16th May for Listowel, Ballybunion, Moyvane and surrounding areas. All home helps welcome.
