Moyvane Development Association:
The next meeting of Moyvane Development Association takes place in the Marian Hall on Tuseday, April 9th at 9pm. You are all welcome to attend.
Senior Badminton:
The last week of Kerry Badminton saw more victories for Moyvane. On Monday night the Division 3 team were in Listowel to take on County in the League Final and it was another League title for the club when they won 6-1. The team was Lisa Sayers, Jeanelle Griffin, Helen Browne, Carmel Hudson, Kevin Kennelly, Dermot Keane, and James Sheehan.
On Tuesday the Division 4’s defeated Sneem/ Iveragh 5-1 in the final of the Knock-out cup. The team was Francine Collins, Eleanor Sheehan, Krystle Crowley, Joe Coulson, Ivan O’Brien, Diarmuid Fitzmaurice and Timmy Hanrahan. Thursday night it was the turn of the Division 2 team and they defeated Killarney 5-2 in the League Final. The team was Elaine Hudson, Jeanelle Griffin, Saorcha Fitzgerald, Carmel Hudson, Pat Kearney, Denis Buckley, Donie Enright and Timmy Duggan.
On Sunday the Division 2, 3 and 5 teams represented Kerry in the Munster Club finals but unfortunately on the day no team was successful in spite of some very close games. Teams were Division 2 Saorcha Fitzgerald, Jeanelle Griffin, Carmel Hudson, Timmy Duggan, Pat Kearney, Donie Enright. Division 3 team Lisa Sayers, Jeanelle Griffin, Helen Browne, Carmel Hudson, Kevin Kennelly, James Sheehan, and Dermot Keane. Division 5, Michelle Corridan, Suzanne Keane, Charlotte Fitzgerald, Eileen Roche, Jamie Elliott, Timmy O’Flaherty, Oliver Carmody, and Liam Corridan.
Friday night was the social night of the season as the Kerry Prizegiving dinner was held in The Carlton Hotel Tralee. Forty three members and friends attended and never were so many cups and medals collected, a record number for the club. Championship Winners and finalists were Elaine Hudson, Saorcha Fitzgerald, Eleanor Sheehan, Francine Collins, Carmel Hudson, Myles Kearney,Timmy Duggan, Jamie Elliott, Denis Buckley, Timmy O’Flaherty and Diarmuid Fitzmaurice and there was a huge number of medal winners. Congratulations to all, it is great to see the club go from strength to strength.
Neutral Shores – Ireland & the Battle of the Atlantic:
A lecture entitled ‘Neutral Shores – Ireland & the Battle of the Atlantic’ by author Mark McShane will take place in the Seanchaí Literary & Cultural Centre, Listowel on Friday, May 3rd at 8pm. This event is part of Listowel Military Festival and admission is €5.
