The Tidy Towns season is in full swing and the village is looking bright and colourful with the hanging baskets, window boxes and shrubs basking in the glorious sunshine. Watering is almost a full time job but the results are obvious. Thanks to the residents for all the fresh paintwork and to everyone for the cleanups. There are loads of litter bins around the place so don’t forget to feed them regularly. Let’s have zero litter for the judges this summer. The next Tidy Towns clean up will be next Wednesday, July 7th at 8pm. Please come along and give a hand and help make the place we live in a better place.

Death:
Fr. Tommy O’Hanlon of Dooncaha, Tarbert died recently in Lahore, Pakistan. Fr. Tommy was born on October 17th 1945 and was half a Moyvane man, his mother being Mary Moran of Keylod. Captain of an All Ireland winning minor Kerry team he was first and foremost a priest and a fighter for freedom and justice. He served in the Phillipines for ten years before joining the Columban mission in Pakistan where he fought for justice for the underprivileged. A man of principle and warmth he suffered a stroke in late May and died on June 6th. A huge crowd turned to show their respect at the Mass in Tarbert last Saturday. Sympathy is extended to his family.
