MOYVANE SENIOR BADMINTON
The Division 3 & 4 Ladies’ and Men’s Leagues have reached the final stages of the competition. Moyvane Division 3 Ladies and Men and Division 4 Men have qualified for the Finals which will be played in Tralee on January 07. Best of luck to all players. The Christmas fun tournament was played on Monday, December 22 and results were: Men’s Winners, James Sheehan and John Newman, 2nd John Mulvihill and Timmy O’Flaherty, 3rd Michael. J. O’Connor and Oliver Carmody 4th Donnacha Moloney and Kevin Hudson. Ladies Winners: Francine Collins and Krystle Crowley, 2nd Carmel Hudson and Eileen Roche. Congratulations to James Flaherty on winning two gold Munster medals. He won the Singles and also won the Doubles with Jonathan Keane Castleisland. Well done James. The Division 4 mixed team defeated Castleisland (Kingdom) 5-2 in their first mixed match. The team was Louise Behan, Michelle Corridan, Krystle Crowley, Jamie Elliott, John Newman, Ivan O’Brien and Timmy O’Flaherty. The club reopens on Monday, January 5th.
BUIOCHAS
The fundraising night for the Nano Nagle School, Listowel and Recovery Haven, Tralee held recently in Mairead’s Bar realised €2,500 in total. Sincere thanks to all the sponsors who contributed good s to be raffled and auctioned. Thanks also to the singers and musicians who provided the entertainment and a big thank you to everybody who supported the fundraiser.

DEATHS
The death of Seamus Flaherty of the Village came as a surprise on December 14. He died in Kerry General Hospital, after a short illness, at the age of 50. Seamus was son of Eily Mai and the late Mike Joe Flaherty and brother of the late Tom. He is survived by his mother, brothers Tim (Tiger), Micheal, Martin, John, Pat sisters Kay and Mary and cousin Mike O’Sullivan, uncle Tom, aunts, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Requiem Mass was celebrated in The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on December 17 followed by burial in Ahavoher Cemetery.
The death took place on December 12 of Margaret Moloney (née Galvin) of Derry, Listowel and formerly of Lahesrough, Ballybunion. Margaret is survived by her husband, Brendan, daughters Mary and Noreen sons John, Denis and Brendan daughters-in-law Colette and Norita, sons-in-law Neil and Noel, grandchildren, brothers, sisters. Requiem Mass was celebrated at Mary’s Church Listowel with burial afterwards at John Paul Cemetery, Listowel.
John Behan (retired Garda) of Aughrim and late of Doonbeg, Co. Clare passed away at Kilcara Nursing Home after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Marie, son Niall, daughter Louise, grandchildren, brother Tommy, sister Mary and relatives. Requiem Mass was celebrated in The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane on Saturday, December 27 followed by burial in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane.
Jim Walsh formerly of Leitrim Middle died recently in Dublin. He was brother of the late Danny Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, sons Thomas & Simon and daughter Ailish, brother Michael and sister Peg. Funeral took place in Dublin.
The death also took place in Boyle, Co. Roscommon of Catherine (Kit) O’Beirne formerly of Tarmons, Moyvane. Sympathy is extended to her brother Bill Walsh and family.
