STRICTLY
It was Sunday Night Fever in Moyvane last Sunday night as Moyvane GAA presented their very own Strictly Come Dancing and was it some hit! This was the most professional presentation I have ever seen in Moyvane. The Community Sports Hall was transformed into a ballroom with lighting & draping. Music pumped through the speakers from early evening. It was standing room only. The young people from Cassie Leen’s school of dancing opened the evening and warmed up the audience. Katie Galvin was MC and you all know the imposing figure Katie is and she has the personality to go with it. The judges were the inimitable Michael Healy Rae, our new to North Kerry, local TD and as usual he was not short of a word but was having none of it when Katie suggested that he might part with his cap! Michael was joined by former Miss Universe Ireland, Aoife Hannon, School of Irish Dancing teacher and former Riverdance member, Johnny Cronin and Chairman of Moyvane GAA, Johnny Stack. The evening kicked off with Regina Galvin & Liam Corridan. There was a mixture of the young and not so young and at times it was difficult to know which was which! The selection was diverse. Karina Stack & Sean Walsh treated us to “The Macarena” while Shauna Foley and Kevin Kennelly strutted their stuff to “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”. Brenda Kennelly & John Mulvihill danced to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make me Feel” and Siobhan Fitzgerald and James Fogarty were tailor made for “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever”. This was a wonderful night’s entertainment, something we need much more of. Congratulations and well done to all involved.
