CLEAN-UP
The development association/Tidy Towns village clean-up took place this Wednesday. It is very important to keep the village tidy and for publicians to remove cigarrette ends from in front of their premises. The Association is grateful for all who contributed to their recent church gate collection. The next meeting of the Association will take place next Tuesday May 3 at 9pm in the Marian Hall.
CARERS
A great night of music, song and dance by Frances Kennedy and friends will be held at St John’s Theatre Listowel on Friday May 6 at 8pm in aid of the Carer’s Association. Booking on 068-22566.
FINE GAEL
The AGM of the Moyvane Fine Gael club took place recently. Elected were: chairman, Stevie Stack; vice chairman, Maurice O’Connell; secretary, Denis O’Connor; assistant secretary, Jill McCarthy; treasurers, Patjoe McEnery and Tommy Roche. The meeting was well attended.
BOOK LAUNCH
Gabriel Fitzmaurice’s new book The Boghole Boys was launched by Sinead Spain of Radio Kerry on Friday night last at the Marian Hall. A large crowd attended the launch of Gabriel’s 13th book.
LABOUR PARTY
The annual general meeting was held recently. Officers for the coming year are as follows: presidents, Michael Kiely and Mike Joe O’Flaherty; chairperson, Ita Buckley; vice chairperson, Tom Fitzgerald; secretary, Pat Leahy; joint treaurers, Mary Fitzgerald and Jerry Mullin. A large committee was formed.
BADMINTON
Michelle Nolan (Div 5) and Ivan O’Brien (Div 4) were finalists at the Listowel Invitation Tournament last week. Michael J O’Connor and Jennifer Keane won their second Div 2 Mixed title at the Championship in Tralee last Sunday. The Div 5 ladies defeated Kenmare 4-1 in the Ladies League in Castleisland last Monday: team was Deirdre Normoyle, Eileen Roche, Michelle Nolan, Frances O’Reilly and Anne O’Connor.
At the prize giving dinner in Killarney last Friday, those who received awards were; Michael O’Connor and Jennifer Keane, Div 2 Mixed Champions; Timmy Duggan, Div 3 Singles Champion; Niall Shine, finalist Div 3 Singles; Niall Shine and Alan Kearney, finalists Div 3 Doubles. Michael O’Connor and Pat Kearney got league medals as part of the Ballyheigue Div 1&2 team.

Diocesan Collection for Kerry Mission Outreach this Saturday and Sunday.
GAA
Seniors: Moyvane lost 2-10 to 4-13 to Churchill in the County Novice championship last weekend after a high scoring game in Churchill. The seniors have no game this week. Next action is in the County league in a few weeks time.
Minors: Moyvane are in a strong position to reach the semi-final after their defeat of Cordal in the County league last Friday. They need to overcome Knocknagoshel/Brosna this Friday in Knocknagoshel at 7.15pm.
Membership is open at €10 for ordinary and €30 for players that is to cover players Injury Scheme. This closes at the end of April. It is intended to have a list of members displayed at our May meeting.
Training starts for U8s and U10s next Tuesday at 7pm.
Moyvane U12s play John Mitchels in Moyvane this Sunday at 7pm in the County league.
The U14s play Tarbert in Moyvane at 7.30pm next Monday in the County league.
