Moyvane Notes – 30th March, 2002

HOLY Week and Easter ceremonies. Holy Thursday: Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Moyvane 8pm, followed by procession to the Altar of Repose. The church will remain open until midnight.

Good Friday – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, Moyvane 3pm; Stations of the Cross, Moyvane 8.30pm.

Easter Vigil: Moyvane Church 9pm; Easter Sunday, Moyvane 11am.

Confessions on Holy Saturday, Moyvane 12-1pm.

David Keane won bronze in the U/8 art which was held in Listowel. This was David’s first time entering Community Games art. The next competition will be the U/14 quiz which will be held in Darby O’Gills, Killarney on Wednesday, March 27 at 7pm. A team from Moyvane/Knockanure area will take part.

The Community Games choir competition will be held in Currow at 1.30pm on April 14.

Blotto – The jackpot has reached an all time high at €7,200 this Thursday night. Last week’s winning numbers were 5-8-16-23. There was no winner but three entries matched three numbers and won €65 each. Gun Club – As part of the club’s restocking, the club released approximately 80 pheasants in the locality.

The seniors had their first win of the season when they overcame Ballylongford in the North Kerry League. A Cathal O’Connor goal along with well taken points by Maurice Kearney (3) and Eddie Bowler (3), Paudie Fitzmaurice, Mike Mulvihill and John J. Mulvihill sealed the game. Final score Moyvane 1-9, Ballylongford 0-5. This Saturday, the seniors travel to Castleisland to play Desmonds in the North Kerry league at 5.30pm.

Moyvane minors had their second win of the year when they accounted for St. Senans in the County League. Moyvane played very well and took their scores with great accuracy. Final score was 0-11 to 10-2. Next game is against Scartaglin in Moyvane on Friday, April 5 at 7pm.
