Moyvane Notes – 30th October, 2006

Moyvane Village Festival:
The 16th Annual Fundraising Village Festival took place over the past weekend and was a great success. The festival began on Friday night with the Boro Buffet. A Bazaar took place on Saturday night in the Marian Hall. The highlight of the festival took place on Sunday night, with the Queen of the Boro competition, which was won by Aisling Flaherty, Cool, Ballylongford. Congratulations to all on a great weekend.

Security Camera:
A security camera has been installed at the bottle bank in the Community Centre car park to deter illegal dumping of rubbish at the bottle bank.

Kerry General Hospital Mass:
There will be a mass on Monday, 6th November @7pm in the Hospital Chapel of Kerry General Hospital, Tralee for those who have died over the past year and their relatives.

Thoughts:
As the winter now sets in, one looks back at the beautiful summer we had. Fine summers come seldom and we must go back to the summer of 1995 for a summer as fine as this one. The fine summer makes it a different country and world for all.

Comhaltas:
The AGM of Moyvane/Knockanure Comhaltas will take place in the Marian Hall, Moyvane on Tuesday, 7th November @ 8.30pm. If the branch is to survive, it is imperative that we get new members. If the branch folds up, there will be no insurance. This would be a disaster for all involved in teaching, learning & promoting our traditional culture. Make sure the branch survives so that all participating are under the insurance umbrella.

Masses:

  • Wed. 1st November, Feast of All Saints. Holy day of obligation. 10am Knockanure; 11am – Ann Flaherty & deceased members of the Flaherty family, Glenalappa.
  • Thurs. 2nd, The Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed. 9.15am Moyvane for the Holy Souls. 7.30pm Knockanure for the Holy Souls.
  • Fri. 3rd, 7.30pm – Dan & Mary Nolan
  • Sat. 4th, 7.30pm – Deceased members of the ICA & their families.
  • Sun. 5th, 10am – Jack Carmody
