Moyvane Notes – 30th October, 2007

GAA Results:
Moyvane Seniors had a very important win over Fossa in the County League on Sunday last. Moyvane greatly needed a win in this their second last County League game to stay in contention for promotion to Division 4 next year. The game was played with great passion from both teams leading to a half time score of 1-5 to 0-3 in favour of Moyvane at half time. The final score was Moyvane 1-8, Fossa 1-5. Team: Diarmuid Fitzmaurice, Eoin Flaherty, William Madden, Conor Flynn, Denis Kennelly, John Mulvihill, Tom Sheehy, Mike O Connor, John Jack Mulvihill, Maurice Kearney, David Moloney, Jackie Mulvihill, Brian Stack, Mossie Mulvihill and Damien Flynn. Subs: Pascal Sweeney for Diarmuid Fitzmaurice, Seanie Lynch for Mike O Connor and Cathal O Connor for David Moloney. Fixtures:
The Seniors are at home to Churchill on Sunday 4th November at 2:00pm in their final County League game.

Wedding:
The marriage took place of Laura Slemon, Listowel and Timmy Larkin, Carrueragh, Knockanure at St Mary’s Cathedral Killarney on Saturday last. The reception was held in the Malton Hotel, Killarney. The couple will reside in Carrueragh, Knockanure.

Festival:
The 17th Annual Village festival took place last weekend, overall it was a good weekend with something for everybody.

Rain:
44mms of rain fell in the Moyvane area during last week.

As the winter now approaches one looks back at the year. It was a year so far similar to 1985 with the dry spring, wet summer and dry fall of the year, in 1985 the summer was a lot wetter than this year.

Collection:
Diocesan Collection for Irish Church Commission and Agencies next weekend.

Parents Council – Thanks:
The Parents Council of Murhur N.S. wish to thank everyone who supported their Church Gate Collection which amounted to €836.57

Community Games:
The AGM of the Moyvane/Knockanure Community Games will be held in the Marian Hall on this Friday night November 2nd at 8pm. All are welcome.

Senior Citizens:
On Sunday December 9th, we have planned a Christmas Party in the Marian Hall. A four course lunch, dancing, entertainment and lots more to start off your Christmas celebrations. Full details later.

Scór:
The North Kerry Finals of Coiste Scór na nOg Ciarraí Thuaidh will take place in the Marian Hall, Moyvane on Saturday night November 3rd. It will commence at 8.30pm.

Social Centre:
A Social Centre for older people is starting on Monday 5th November in Knockanure Community Centre. A hot meal will be provided. Transport is provided by Kerry Flyer. To book transport phone 087 7476717. Anybody who wishes to attend please contact the following nos 49438, 23905 or 49250 (committee). All names to be with the Committee by Tuesday 30th October.

Cookery Classes:
Cookery classes will commence in the Community Centre the week beginning Monday 5th November providing there are sufficient numbers. Names to be given to any members of the Committee.

North Kerry Together:
North Kerry Together Ltd Jobs Club are proposing to run a course in Family Resource Centre, Duagh incorporating Jobs Seeking Skill. For people who are unemployed, parenting alone, a person wishing to return to the workforce, small farmers/low income household if so, an Information Morning will be held in the Family Resource Centre, Duagh on Wednesday 31st October from 11am – 1pm, for more information contact Michael O’Neill or Tina O’Connor @ 068 24981.

Thursday Nov. 1st is the Feast of all the Saints and is a holy day of Obligation. Friday is the first Friday of the month – there will be the usual Communion rounds (Knockanure in the morning and Moyvane in the afternoon).
